"There was quit a buzz beginning about the boys."

I remember the first time I saw AiC @ Lollapalooza w/ Tool, Primus and various other acts in 1993. I had been a fan of AiC before the show, as I had been going to Seattle frequently in 1987 visiting friends who lived there. There was quit a buzz beginning about the boys. There is lots of speculation as where this project is going and how long it will last; as for my opinion, what Jerry and the boys are out there doing is wonderful for me.

I have had a chance to see AIC only twice and it is a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Layne was so amazing his voice ever haunting as is the the day he died. The short lived project MAD SEASON is just as incredible as what Layne did with ALICE. I travel to Seattle still to visit each year for the memorial and have not been disappointed yet.  Nancy puts together such a great time for the fans in remembrance and in support of such addictions that affect so many and celebrating those of us who love Layne.

It still bothers me that such fuss was made over "other" deaths in the music world and not much was said about Layne. I guess for some the impact they had on music was trivial then..... not so much now!  There are a slew of bands that have drawn inspiration for the AiC sound and some attempts not so good. Even still, it is good to see Jerry and the boys out and playing for all the fans that remain and new ones who will become.

There is always a place in my thoughts each day for AIC and the ABSOLUTE BEAUTY THAT WAS LAYNE THOMAS STALEY.......

SEE YOU ON THE ROAD,
FOREVER A FAN

"I try to get anything that I can that will allow me to experience even a small part of AiC."

I am a huge AiC fan. My love of the band borders on obsession. I have always loved the music, but only in the last year or so have I come to really appreciate it. Layne's death was a tragedy not only to those who  loved him, but to rock music itself. It seems like God always takes early the ones he shouldn't. Although I has never able to see the band live when they were fronted by Layne, I have been ecstatic over their new tour. I was able to see the free show at the Moore in Seattle and then when I heard they were playing KUFO Rockfest in Portland, I was lucky enough to get tickets. Now hearing that they are playing at the Paramount in November, I am anxiously waiting for the tickets to go into presale. I work at the United Cargo at SeaTac airport and every time their gear comes through our warehouse, I get excited because I know that they are in town blessing us with the best music ever created.

I hope that Jerry, Mike, and Sean will continue with new projects together not only because of the rock magic that they create, but because I am also running out of stuff to buy. I own all the original CDs (Sap, Facelift, Dirt, Jar of Flies, Tripod, and MTV Unplugged), Layne's Mad Season CD, Jerry's Degradation Trip and Boggey Depot, the Unplugged DVD, The Nona Tapes, The Music Box DVD featuring all there music videos, their original Facelift DVD featuring them live at the Moore in the early '90s, t-shirts, stickers, a sick custom made hat created by Dan Gregory (www.1976itsjustart.com), and I will definitely buy the DVD if they make one from their Moore concert.

I try to get anything that I can that will allow me to experience even a small part of AiC. As an example, I bought Ozzy Osbourne's new Under Cover CD, because Jerry (the guitar god) plays on the CD. AiC has had a massive affect on my life and I am glad that I have been able to experience it and that I have been able to get my wife to appreciate them along with me (she has gone to both concerts with me and also supports my addiction). Thank you for all that you have done so far and the things that you will hopefully do in the future.

"... listening to the band's songs helped me get through those times."

I've been a fan of Alice in Chains for, about, nine years.  When I first heard that Layne had passed away, I was shocked, yet not surprised at the same time.  AiC was, actually, my first favorite band.  Their music is awesome.  I really love "I Can't Have You Blues," "Social Parasite," "Again," "Would?" "Sea of Sorrow," etc.  The list goes on.  I also love Mad Season's album Above.  Great work.  AiC has been a positive influence on my life.  I had gone through some tough times in high school, and listening to the band's songs helped me get through those times.  Layne had such a great voice, such great talent.  I remember when I first got caught up in the Unplugged CD.  I'd listen to it almost every day.  Jar of Flies is also another good album.  When I listened to "Nutshell" that first time, I thought that it was so beautiful.  I would have loved to see AiC in concert.

When I, recently, read that the band got a new singer, it broke my heart.  It's cool that other fans out there have enjoyed the band's recent shows.  To me, however, it's not the same without Layne.  In some ways, I feel angry because he's not here anymore, but we can't turn back the clock.  I'll always love his work, though.  I always enjoyed listening to him sing while I'd just kick back.  Layne, you will never be forgotten.  I love you, and R.I.P.

"...Jerry is her rock guitar idol..."

Alice in Chains is our ultimate all-time favorite band!  We've been fans from the beginning and our CD player still always has at least one and most of the time ALL AIC disks in it.  We were never fortunate enough to attend a concert back in the day but we are buying tickets for the Grand Prairie, TX show and bringing our 10-year-old daughter.  All she wanted for her tenth birthday was an electric guitar and Jerry is her rock guitar idol, she loves you man!  Thanks for getting back together and giving us the chance to see you all up close and personal.  Godspeed.

"...this letter is from China, the other side of the earth to where AiC is."

Nobody has any idea how this letter's gonna be seen by all AiC fans, this letter is from China, the other side of the earth to where AiC is.

I am a Chinese, born in Beijing. When I was a teen, there was no internet, no MP3s, no CDs at all. You could not find any rock music in stores, all we listened to were cassettes from bootlegger. They sold the cassettes by bag, and each of the cassettes had been broken by customs. All we needed to do first after purchasing the "wasted" music was to repair them by replacing their cover, and tape. Sorry I said too much about this, I just want you guys know how fortunate I was to get a Facelift tape among seas of broken cassettes, take it home, repair it, put it on... I was blown away.

Things have changed a lot in this city of mine; I've got all the modern stuff, from DVD player to iPod. I've never seen AIC live before, I mean with Layne as the frontman, and I will never. Through all these years, I've collected all of AiC's releases, that is one of my biggest pride. Being one of the few Chinese fans, sometimes, it's lonely because there's so few people around to share real music like AiC with, there's so few rockers that can really sing on the stage like Layne did. Anyway, I still feel blessed to "meet" AiC when I was a teen, when I barely knew a word of English. It was just music that touched me. As I grew up and learned more English, the deeper I appreciated what AiC had shared with the world.

The afternoon that I heard that Layne was dead was unforgettable, the grey sky and dark green leaves haunted me in my mind for days and days. I admired Jerry's album, and everything the guys have done for the memories of Layne. I am more than happy to know that AiC has returned to the road.

R.I.P Layne, I love you.

Good Luck, Jerry, Sean, Mike & William, I love you guys too!

"Jerry and Layne knew how to feed the human senses delicious tunes..."

For many years now I've been a huge fan of Alice in Chains. When the band first started during the grunge era in Seattle, it brought something new to the table, something no one has ever heard before - mixing the trademark human feelings of grunge with a touch of metal/hard rock and alternative rock. Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley knew how to feed the human senses delicious tunes and sweet melodies with a very awesome and god-like aftereffect, giving people something that was so good it left them begging for more. I became one of these people.

I own all of Alice in Chains' albums, including Jerry Cantrell's solo albums Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip V. 1 & 2 (the regular release of DT is being passed around because I'm trying to introduce good music to everyone else). I've been following Jerry's work for years now and when I found out that Alice in Chains was reformed I just couldn't sit still I was so excited. I just want to say that I can't wait to see what Jerry and Co. has in store for us, and thanks for the years of great music.

We're thinking of adding an AIC studded, black leather wallet and chain to the store with some cool red graphics. What do you think?
