JULY

"Thank you for not letting Layne be forgotten but at the same time moving forward."

I have been completely blown away with the attitude of Alice in Chains.  I consider myself a fan but I never tried to see the band before Layne died because I was never in to the grunge scene.  I would listen to the music but it wasn't willing to endure the crowds when grunge was big.  So now, in my 30s, I am experiencing these bands.  As the great musical beings began to leave us, I decided it was time to start going to shows so that I could at least experience the live product.

My first AiC show was the Seattle band practice before the 2006 tour.  I couldn't believe that on multiple occasions after the show I was sent "thank you" notes from the band (or the website anyway).  First of all, Band Practice was one of the most amazing EXPERIENCES I have ever had.  What a mind blowing performance that was.  But to read the thank you letter in my email I almost felt bad.  Here was a band hoping to be able to come back and be accepted as the great band that they ARE, giving me tickets to come and see them and they're thanking me?

I must thank you.  Thank you for coming back.  Thank you for not letting Layne be forgotten but at the same time moving forward.  Thank you for keeping this great music alive because you would be depriving the world of something truly, artistically wonderful if you were to stop performing this music.  99 per cent of the time I'm pissed at Layne for not being here.  I feel it's his fault that we are without him and it angers me that such incredible musical talent is being lost in the way that it is happening.  But, I love Layne's work.  I love this band's music.  I love Jerry's guitaring, Inez's bass lines, Kinney's drumming and Duvall's vocals.

Thanks for many years of great music and thank you for inviting me to band practice.  It was a privilege and an honor to be a part of it.  I loved it so much I went to Rockfest too.

Hurry home!  I can't wait for the next show!

"I've never been the same since."

It's hard to believe that I was only 11 years old when I first discovered AiC in 1991 shortly after Facelift was released. My friend has a really interesting sister who was "in the know" about many things way before the mainstream. We were going through her CDs one day and we were intrigued enough by the artwork of Facelift to play it...... I've never been the same since.

AiC have impacted every aspect of my life and I proudly wear a tattoo on my left shoulder as a testament to this fact. I never had the opportunity to see AiC with Layne, however my wife and I have seen Jerry three times (Ziggy's in Winston-Salem, Tremont in Charlotte & at the Charlotte Cityfest). Of the countless shows we've seen in the past, seeing Jerry perform at the Cityfest the night before Layne's funeral was the most intense, emotional and uplifting performance I've ever seen.....word's truly can't describe the feelings that were coming from the stage as well as the crowd. Thank you Jerry for the performance of a lifetime, I can only imagine how it must of felt to be onstage that night. I have been influenced enough by AiC's music that I started a band in 2002 named Out of Orbit and I'm sure that influence shows through our own music.

I COULD WRITE A THOUSAND PAGES ON THE EXPERIENCES I'VE HAD LISTENING TO AIC, BUT ALL I REALLY WANT TO SAY IS THANK YOU FOR ENHANCING ALL OF OUR LIVES WITH YOUR INCREDIBLE MUSIC. I look forward to the opportunity to see you soon.

Cheers guys!!!!

"Come to Brazil..."

Well, even though I know that this email will never be read by one of you guys (Sean, Mike, Jerry or William), I'll keep on writing it anyway...

I just can't believe that this dream of mine came true. Alice in Chains together again, playing some awesome gigs around the world (as far as I can see on the internet), with a new vocalist; not to replace Layne, 'cause it would be just impossible, Layne was this sort of 'one-of-a-kind' guy; but good and capable enough to keep up with the others and represent the music and work of this amazing band.

Your music is a HUGE influence to me and my band pals, and I cannot describe how fantastic are and how deep your songs touche us. There's so much feeling in all senses, the music flows soft and hard at the same time through my head, it's just impossible to put on words how I feel when listening to your music.

I know it's barely impossible to happen, but I'd like you guys to 'hear' my plea(not only mine, believe me!) and come to Brazil at some point in a near future, to make at least one single show...please, make some efforts and try to come and give us the best show of our lives!!!
Guys, I wish you the best, I really hope that this 'reborn' Alice in Chains keep on going on and making some new and amazing songs to delight us, great fans! :)

Thanks for just being Alice In Chains!!!

We're thinking of adding an AIC studded, black leather wallet and chain to the store with some cool red graphics. What do you think?
