Live

 Stefan's Review

Since I heard about Alice in Chains, I've been searching for their albums. I didn't know they had a live album (ex. unplugged). But when I saw this album in the music store, I just bought it directly. The album contains most of the well known Alice in Chains songs, but it also contains two songs that I didn't had on CD - "Queen Of The Rodeo" and "A Little Bitter." These songs are very good. The other songs are great, with Layne talking between the songs, it's a nice album. "Bleed the Freak" is the first song on the album and I think that this song sounds better live than on the Facelift album. The only song I don't like much live is "Again" because there are no backing vocals in the chorus, as I am used to. But if you don't have this album, jump on your bike and buy it!!

Gerry's Review

As a teenager in the early '90s when the grunge period came out, that time in history changed the way music was being played and performed, as we were all getting sick of the big hair bands thanks to people like Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain and especially Mr. Cantrell and Layne. Every time I listen to the Live album it gives me goose bumps from the starter "Bleed the Freak" and then "Queen of the Rodeo." How many hard rock bands could pull off a song like that that sounds like you should have on your cowboy hat and boots but sounds so dreary and stylish at the same time? I love the way they make "Angry Chair" and "Man In The Box" go in to each other. This gives a great example of how a live album should be: angry, sad, happy, hard, bluesy, pounding drums, thumping bass, mind wandering guitar solos and a singing voice that's all its own!!!
