Backstage with Baldy
Norfolk – May 5th
Okay, I’ve put it off long enough now, so I guess it’s finally time to address the elephant in the room: Jerry’s hair.
I’ve read online comments, I’ve heard people discussing it at shows (sometimes in absolute horror and shock), and obviously I’ve had time to see it up close and personal for a while now.
And I have to be honest; I’ve grown to like it.
It definitely took some getting used to, but now that it’s been a few months, I’m on board.
And as he said himself a week or two ago, “I’ve had long hair all of my life. It was time for a change.”
I get it. It was a drastic change in his appearance, but some of the reactions out there have been a bit on the distraught and over reactive side.
Let’s face it; hair is a privilege, not a right (take it from someone who’s lost his privileges).
It crushes my soul to see someone with a big full head of hair wearing it in a stupid style, or not giving it a proper combing and washing. You people with hair have no idea how good you have it, so just take a minute and treat it with respect, because as the band Cinderella so prophetically sang back in 1988, you Don’t Know What You Got ‘Til It’s Gone.
After all, Jerry’s hair isn’t gone, it’s just short.
And here’s the good news; it hasn’t affected his guitar playing.
So for all of you slouched in front of your computers posting comments on youtube and blabbermouth about Jerry cutting his hair, move on to something that’s actually important.
I hear Eddie Vedder is thinking of shaving his beard…
