I caught the Alice In Chains & Velvet Revolver show on Saturday night in Montreal, Canada, and let me tell you the new front man for A.I.C. was amazing. If i was a blind man, i would have sworn it was Layne up there singing. Congrads Mr. Duvall you did a Fucking stellar job and as far as the rest of the band, well what more can i say, you guys kicked my ass. It was really great to see and hear the boys again.

With Layne up there in the great big gig in the sky, i can honestly say that you are truly missed and Heaven is beside you.

On 08/14/07, I caught your show at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA. The new front man, William Duvall sounded incredible. The whole band sounded nice and tight. Your energy kicked ass. I am still pumped. If the old music sounded that good I can't wait to hear new music.

Thank you Layne for bringing that voice mixed with those lyrics that absolutely blew me away. I feel very fortunate for my years thru middle school up to college to coincide with AIC and Mad Season. I just wish I would have sacked up and made a concert back in the day...I remember exactly where I was that beautiful spring afternoon back a few years ago when my brother called me and said you had passed. I can't say that I was surprised because of all shit people were speculating about your health  but it still sent a shock wave up and down my body. Rest in peace Layne.

In response to BillT's question about whether AIC should "rename" themselves in light of Layne's being gone (actually, I don't believe this would be considered a "rename" as I'm not sure they ever officially disbanded, though I could be wrong)  I honestly believe that by continuing on in the name of AIC, the remaining members are actually honoringLayne's legacy rather than diminishing it.  And while I am and will always remain a huge Layne Staley fan, let us not forget who the main creative (writing) force behind AIC was and continues to be...I think he's earned the right to continue using the name.  But who knows..as a native Seattle girl, I might be a bit overly sentimental about this.

Amd as much as Layne was the main reason I loved AIC (his voice being beyond compare) Jerry was as much AIC, if not more, than Layne.

Keeping AIC is a mark of honour for Layne I think...Alice in Chains still lives.. no other name would sound as good....

in my opinion. alice without layne is not alice, the band alice in chains was formed by the Jerry, Layne, Sean and Mike, this is the alice in chains that all know, and that it goes to be in the souvenir of all. I find q with another vocal one would have to change the name of the band, all good to be able to touch some musics of the alice to relembrar, more the alice in chains always goes to be recognized in the vocal one with

Although I am sad for Layne and wish he were still with us, I attended last night's concert at Tinely Park, IL and YOU GUYS ROCKED!!!  The new lead singer is almost a dead ringer for Layne.  Very nice job, gentlemen!!  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will look forward to whatever comes next!!!

Saw them Aug,21 at Mohegan Sun arena in CT and the show kicked serious ass Velvet Revolver were good too but Chains naied it. The new singer didn't miss a beat he was
great. The best part was when we left early during VR's encore and went to the bathroom. I was waiting just inside the bathroom for my friend when someone walked
in and it was Shaun Kinney I couldn't belive it. He walked in and went into on of the stalls
and I told my buddy who it was and he said your F...n crazy. But when he walked out he freaked well so did I too(who wouln't) so we took pictures with my phone and talked for
about 3 minutes he was cool as hell he could of said he had to get back stage but he
actually gave us enough time to get a couple of nice pictures it was the best thing as far
as meeting somebody I love in my life. I WISH ALL OF YOU FANS WERE THER TOO

I am huge AIC fan and miss Layne dearly.  Alice in Chains is Layne, Sean, Jerry and Mike, not Sean, Jerry, Mike and a replacement who sounds like Layne.

Caught AIC last year at the Warfield, show wuz seriously sick!!!  Will catch the current tour in Marysville in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait.  Goin to see AIC and leavn B4 Velvet Revolver, cuz I think that it is somewhat sad that Layne's AIC music is not the headline of the current tour.  Duvall is giving the AIC sound and lyrics everything anyone could ever hope for in the absence of Layne.  RIP Layne, you rocked harder than most could ever hope to dream of rocking!  

just saw the acoustic hour show in miwaukee!!!! it was 10 times better than i expected.....for those of you that do not think william is a good fit for this band, let me make a suggestion....get your ears checked! the songs they did were amazing! the band was incredible and i would strongly reccommend getting tickets to see the acoustic hour show, you will NOT be disappointed!

saw the milwaukee acoustic show.....very cool show!!! they recorded it for a live album, and did a couple songs i havn't heard before.... could've been covers or new stuff, the guy behind me felt it was more important for everyone to hear him and not the band when they were talking so i'm not sure. jerry is an amazing acoustic guitar player and the whole show was just unbelievable!

I also saw the acoustic hour, which actually lasted much longer, in downtown Milwaukee.  I wasn't sure if they were going to bring Duvall for these smaller, more intimate shows.  I am glad they did because he filled out the sound nicely.  Duvall is no Layne Staley.  However, he is a talented musician and I was happy he could contribute to one of the finest, most exciting shows I have ever seen in my life.  William actually forgot the lyrics to a verse in the song, no pun intended, "I Can't Remember."  I hope they still use this concert for an album because there was so much energy, it felt like everybody was holding on to a ten year orgasm.  These shows are a tribute to Layne, and what a better way to remember him then to sing along to his songs with the legendary Alice in Chains.

I first come across AIC in Salt Lake.  They opened for Extreme in what looked like it used to be a house with a huge garage.  I was hooked immediatley.  The blend of Layne's and Jerry's vocals along with the music made them the biggest thing to come out of the Grunge era no matter what Nirvana fans think.  Every song for me stays true to that first performance I saw.  Everyday guys jamming in a garage.....my cup runneth over, like blood from a stone

The day I heard Man in The Box in the early 90s I was hooked, before AIC hit it big.
I"m 34 now and the band's still up there in my top five. Rock music has turned to shit, Staley's gone, Soundgarden has split up, Shannon Hoon's dead, so is Cobain but "Facelift" and more particularly "Dirt" and "Jar of Flies" live on as some of the best rock albums ever recorded. RIP Layne. Hope AIC will hit the studio again and produce some great, dark, atmospheric rock, the way they used to.

    I have taught myself how to play man in the box, what the hell have I?, Rooster, Down In A Hole, Would, Angry Chair on guitar, as well as many other AIC tunes, I love Jerry's and Layne's vocal harmonization and the guitar chords so much, they mean so much to me and I am sure to countless others.  
    It is one thing to be a fan, but to be a fan who is a musician is a better accolade for a band to obtain, as musician fans have a broader understanding of music in general and in most cases, in specific, but fellow musicians have stricter requirements for musical ability and usually are more picky than the average fan/listener, I know I am.  I thank God for the music AIC has put out and I am just dying to see them in concert.  Hope to attend the Phoenix show near my home in Surprise AZ.

I am very happy to see the Fund up and running here.The Concord Calfornia show was great...It was great to see Layne Staley Fund cards at the tshirt stands ..
I had brought some cards myself..and a Mission Statement about the Fund..I passed out a good amount of cards but still had many left over so i decided to leave my cards with the shows cards and leave my copy of the Mission Statement..I came out about a 90 minutes later and all the cards were gone..It is just a small suggestion but maybe the person who puts out the cards could print a copy of the Funds Mission Statement to go with the cards and some fans who are not aware of the Funds Mission can understand  what the Fund actually dose with its proceeds assisting in recovery programs in the Seattle area..Just a small suggestion for awareness ..

AIC has always had the greatest impact on me and the road in which I travel.
Layne, Jerry, Sean and both Mike's set the bar in the music industry which will never be reached by any other artisits. I comend the final three to carry on and continue in bringing us their music.
