I think this auction is silly.  If Jerry wanted to help the LSF he should attend at least once in his life.  It's been six years now.  The excuses are getting real thin Mr. Cantrell.   Attend yourself damn it.  Make an effort besides dry cleaning your old sappy clothes and making your fans pay for you!!!

You're proving more and more each day, each year,... that you have been sick and tired of standing in Layne's shadow and hate it.  You've said it yourself when Layne died, "Layne was swept under the rug"....Well, why didn't you ever do something about that.....or at least tried?  That's YOUR legecy too ya know.  I don't need to be told who wrote what or who was more important.  Ya both were.  Ya needed each other, plain and simple.  You are now trying to recreate something that you're had with a lesser half who does not have the harmonies or chemistry as you had with Layne.  You may feel something there with Duvall but it's in no way a comparison.  You need to open your eyes and realize you need to create SOMETHING DIFFERENT whether it's with yourself or someone else.  But this thing isn't going to fly.   And stick to your word damn it and people would respect you and Sean more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone deals with loss in different ways, please get over yourself, you can't possibly know everything about the guy's relationship with Layne and they can deal with it however they see fit. Remember as much as we all loved Layne, he did what he did to himself and could have chosen to stop at anytime as many people have. It's not Jerry, Shawn, or Mike's fault and how they live their lives in the wake of Layne's choice is their business alone. Enjoy the old music, either enjoy the new music or ignore it, and live your own life.

My post has absolutely NOTHING to do with how Layne died.  I'm not blaming Jerry for his death either.  Re read my post before it gets deleted.  It's all kittens and pussycats around here and the guys are getting a false impression how MANY of their old AND new fans feel.  AND  listen to Bargain Basement Howard Hughes.  I bet Jerry's chocking himself for writing that about Layne.  BUT I respect him so much more for being honest AND sharing that song along with others such as SOLITUDE.  Let's not forgot Jerry's OTHER amazing work on his Boggy D CD too.  Jerry's a beautiful man and I mean that in his WORK not just his physical appearance although most girls are falling for that - me included.  His is a true talent and can accomplish so so so much.  I just don't like these stupid tactics by trying to show he has support for his friend.   Since he's choosing to show it; let him show it in a way that makes him go to some trouble to do so.  Stringing along charity events is fine AND easy FOR HIM.  Why is ok for the band to SEND a VIDEO taped message to Layne at the LSF but they can NEVER get there.  If Jerry wanted to REALLY raise some money he should care enough to get his buns there!!!!!!!!!

You're right, your post didn't have to do with how Layne died per se, I guess I lumped it in with all of the other posts I've seen on this site that criticize the guys for what they've done since it happened. I just think that AIC's sole obligation to us was and is to make music, and their personal lives are their business. I agree that Jerry's better solo work has been when he was venting his anger more than his grief about Layne.
To me, all that matters is the music, past and future, let's enjoy it all for what it is.

Hey, Its nice to see you care. I know how difficult it can be without insurance (I'm assuming that is partially what MusiCars is for) , but I stay in one place. I have traveled some so I know how tough that can be on a person. I can't imagine how exhausting it must be to be on the road for month or years at a time....just traveling, not to mention all the energy you give on stage. It takes a unique individual to have that kind of stamina...thanks for sharing you music and your energy.

drugs affect alot of people, and it's great that Jerry's mind is on doing something to help people dying in that reality. http://www.addictiontribe.com is a great support site for people new and old timers in recovery from the myriad of addictions out there. paying it forward is always a great thing. in my life twenty years ago i received, now in unspoken thanks i visit and encourage. small gestures can make big changes, as can the power of a kind word and encouragement.

SWEET SHOW IN NASHVILLE. THE NEW SINGER HAS A GREAT VOICE AND IT REALLY GELLS NICELY WITH CANTRELL'S. I HAD A BACKSTAGE PASS NOT TO RUB IT IN, but ANYWAY....

I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME AWESOME PHOTOS AND MET THE GUYS AFTER THE SHOW. GOT TO TALK WITH THEM AND THEY ARE ALL REALLY DOWN TO EARTH AND WILLING TO CHAT WITH YOU FOR A FEW. HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO ROCK ON FOR YEARS TO COME. THEY HAVE SUCH A UNIQUE SOUND. BANDS TRY TO REPLICATE IT BUT TO NO AVAIL.

All of the band is Alice in Chains, not just the singer, and that shows powerfully when you see them. Though I do understand the new singer question/issue. Van Halen/Sammy Hagar, Creed/AlterBridge, you name it, often it doesn't work. William does. He has a similar sound to Layne, and they all seem really relaxed and comfortable together. He's talented, they're all talented. It works.

Very extremely worth it to see the band. Their sound is as beautiful, incredible, and reflective as ever. All of them are so freaking talented together. No sound like them in music for me. Their music is unique. I'm so EXCITED to know they'll be putting out some new stuff in the future.

First I want to say I love AIC.  All of them.  Second I want to say I love William Duvall.  He is a super cool dude.  He gives back to the fans and takes the time to truely show he cares.  Jerry on the other hand, appears fake when he does something nice.  I think it's because it shows through.  Jerry is a certain kind of person.  And that's all I'm going to say on the matter since I do not want to put him down.  

Did Jerry make the right choice in picking William to sing lead?    yes
Does William sing better than Layne?    no

The main problem that I see in Willilam is that he appears to be trying to sound more & more like Layne every time you see him.

NOW, Back to Jerry:  If some fans want to buy Jerry's clothes, than more power to Jerry for getting his fans to do things for him yet again.

Lets say you started a business with your family, one that took blood sweat and tears to build, and had a great reputation in the community. So, your father dies, or your sister dies, and rather than carry on, you simply fold up and quit. "Well, dad was the face of the company, and he's dead, so lets all quit and go cry in the corner." Or, lets change the name of the company from "Johnsons Wingnuts", since dad died. How f'n simple are some of you people??? Who does that honor? No one! William is a phenomenal talent and I eagerly await any new AIC material that includes him.

I for one am REALLY glad that a sound I've been in love with since I heard it is carrying on. It's easier not to - alot of bands don't. Probably because of this very (sometimes unfortunately wrathful) discussion. But WTF. It must have been a very difficult thing to consider, and for the choice I for one am jumping up and down SO EXCITED to know I can continue to hear and be touched by all of the fantastic musicians in this band. Every last one of them, old and new. They work - it's a fact - It's not about recreating the past - so WHY NOT??? I'm extremely impatient to hear some new tunes. I love this band.

How many times has something like this happened and you never hear something beautiful that has touched your soul again. Hmm? Being 43, I've seen it happen ALOT. There is not another AIC in this world. Not to say there aren't other bands, just not with their particular style or ability to touch cords deep inside me.
