goshhh... i wish  i was seeing AIC with Layne and not duvall.

I've listened to several - and I mean  s e v e r a l  recordings on youtube.  Some with very good quality I might add.  The music sounds amazing.  The voice doesn't.  I just cannot get used to the sound of William Duvall's voice.  I feel very bad about this and I really truely want to like the new singer but I just don't like the sound of his voice.  Even on the songs he sings simiarly like Staley, I guess he does ok but that's only because he is singing pretty much like Layne's style.  Mr. Duvall has to sing like himself and he should sing like himself.  I just don't like the sound.  I think he has a nice voice in the way that he can sing powerfully and has a fair range - its just his  s o u n d  I don't like.  And again I really truely completely whole heartedly feel preety bad about it.  I just can't like what I don't like and it discredits Alice in Chains in that they just don't sound as good as they used to not even close.  And I will repeat & repeat, this has nothing to do with matching up Duvall with Staley and no hurtful feelings towards Duvall.  I had to say this just to get it out because it kinda hurts in a way and I'm saddened by the new sound.

Oh I just need to add I did see them once last year so I did hear them live.  I listened to all the youtube videos just to try to make myself like it more.    G O D  I wish I'd like it more.

oh quit your whining. I am so tired of the same thing on every AiC board. Yes Layne is dead...that sucks, yes he was good and won't be replaced, but it doesn't mean the band can't continue to make new music...and lay of of William DuVall untill you see him live and here his band comes with the fall...they kick ass. I have no doubt that AiC will still make great music....Jerry wrote 98% of the songs and lyrics anyway

You guys are all very dumb. To say Jerry doesn't have it is a discouraging thought to you as a fan. "ok then" was right, Jerry wrote most lyrics and almost all the songs if you go and look. Anything that is on the radio or loved by fans, Jerry wrote. Llayne sung the songs like no other and there is no doubt he can never be replaced and is forever missed. Yet they aren't replacing them, Jerry and the rest have said it's more of a tribute tour to Llayne and his greatness. Now you retards should shut your mouths and get off these posts and go to school and learn some damn grammar you ignorant fools.

If ya want to put ppl down for grammar, (could just be fast typing though.....) ya might want to correct yourself on spelling.

Layne does NOT spell his name Llayne.  I would consider it a typo but ya spelled it that way more than once.  Maybe you should check "yourself" before putting down others personally.  Stick to the topic of aic.

Just discovered Alice in Chains yesterday.    Reading about the history, and then listening to the music - never have I been so deeply touched by a band.    

I'm glad to see that the band is giving it a shot without Layne.

Everyone around here is trying to discard him even this site.  They say they want to move on in the future and that's cool.  Layne is gone but he's still Alice in Chains.  Check out that Youtube (above)and you'll see the difference.  Notice this official site has nothing much about him.  You'd think they'd have more considering his magnetic personality.  Read on the history man cause ppl around here will try to tell you that he only sang the songs but he wrote half of the lyrics and carried out all the rest of the songs with that "deeply touched" feeling ya got dude.   He was also a super sweet decent person to ALL people.   Again, ck out the link dude.  Peace.

I saw the band last fall and they were great.  BUT the only thing missing was LAYNE.  They showed an extremely touching 5 minute video/slideshow on Layne & it was really emotional.

Now that they will be moving on with a new singer I hesitate GREATLY.  The new singer I'll give credit to to TRY to fill THE VOID but there's just someting about Layne Staley that can't be touched.  Lately everyone's talking about Layne having that IT factor.  And it's true.  Layne had such a super awesome way he portrayed singing.  If ya haven't heard the NON Radio songs yet; check them out; they are amazing songs too.
