thanx coley  Layne has touched my life more than anyone can ever imagine with his incredible voice and soul, & the music of Alice in Chains and Mad Season......i hope he is at peace now, his legacy lives on.........

I never knew the guy, but I find it pretty magnificant how artists can touch peoples lives without ever meetin them, as he did mine. There was nothing like having a rough day and coming home and listening to some Alice in Chains. It felt as tho I was letting the pain out. I met Layne once, it was at monsters of rock or something i said 'hi' , he said 'hi' he shook my hand - I said 'bye' and he went back to talking to whoever he was talking to... exciting story, no? yep, he was my hero and now hes gone :(
there's a man up on that ledge... he's only cleaning windows what a shame, who's to blame for the pain we're missing I'm gonna lean back on my wall and pray for him to fall

Layne and AIC collectively pulled me through a whole shit storm of bad from age 15 on.I was brought up as a very sheltered child, I listened to rock music but never really payed attention, it just sounded good. And when my parents divorced at that age and I was exposed to everything around me, alcohol, parties, drugs, GUITARS, I didn't know how to handle it. And I sat in my room one night and dropped Jar of Flies in to my cd player and heard the lyrics to Rotten Apple and Nutshell, actually heard them, and that was all it took.

I think only someone with the writing abilites like Layne could some up how he made me feel. His words still shake my core to this day and it still gets my through all the angst even though I am no longer a teenager. Having read as many interviews as I could and seen a few clips of him. He really seemed like a great guy and I am sure anyone who met him will back this up for me. He just had the ability to somehow write something that connected to me. Even just today while listening to "Shame In You" the words somehow seem to relate so perfectly to a situation that happened last night. I will miss layne I may never have gotten the chance to meet him and I might just be some guy who listens to his music but he left a presence with his music that only a few guys I know in music history could. I just can't see why the good youngs die young and somehow evil, sick people can live for what seems forever. Laynes memory will live on forever with me and all I hope is that where ever he is now he's at peace
