Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
Ok, I know I don't have the most varied tastes anyways, but my dog got a hold of my 1 gb chip so I've got a whole 512 mbs or something pathetic to fill, so don't hold this crap against me. I would not be shocked if my shuffle gives me all the same person at this point Queensryche- Empire This song hits you like a two ton heavy thing. Haha. Oh yeah. Original. I love it, there's not much to say. I like everything about the song. Especially the "Caaaaaan yooooooouuuuu heeeaaarrr it caaaaling" part. Insane. And the guitars... It's just Ryche. Rammstein- Amerika Ah, yes. "We're all living in Amerika." I, though a stupid American, totally agree with that one. It's all out of balance. Great song. Rammstein ist die Nummer eins, Mensch! Toll! Queensryche- The Lady Wore Black Told you I'd get doubles and all. Uh... Probably one of my favorite Ryches. Not much to saw about them. I can do all my stalling like Empire, but it's just Ryche. Hard to describe them using anything but their name. Maybe this \m/ (hits next until its not Ryche- up to six straight before I got these ) Soul Asylum- Somebody to Shove Ouch, I can see the flamage already. They have a few ok songs. I'm not going to dig myself in any farther than that. He doesn't have a bad voice, and... Well... They're sometimes average I guess is the best I can do without hitting backspace involuntarily Mudhoney- Burn it Clean And now something grungier. I have to say, this did a shitty job outlining what I listen to. I might be pissed at my MP3 player if I wasn't already for being too small, and of course if it wasn't an inanimate object... Well, Mudhoney kicks ass. I love Mark's screams. "Burn it clean!" My reviews suck, you don't have to tell me

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
aliceinhell:If I were a guy, the section at about 1:24 - 1:29-ish where everything drops out except for the vocal and double bass would make me sprout a huge boner.
Or if you were an anime girl. @ negcreep - It doesn't matter how big your collection is, or what's on it. Anyone can join in this game. Not everyone can have over 80 days worth of music on their hard drive like I do .
So anyways, here I goes agains:
1. Tangerine Dream - "Lifted Veil" Yes. A great TD song from the 90s. Soft piano, mellow sax, acoustic guitars and atmospheric soundscapes. Good stuff. You can't go wrong with Tangerine Dream. Well, most of the time.
2. Pink Floyd - "Bike" Yes. Love Barrett-era Floyd.
3. Frank Zappa - "Uncle Remus" Yes. Classic Zappa from a classic album. Probably among my top five favorite Zappa albums.
4. Fantomas - "Book 1: Page 15" Yes. Organized insanity from the eccentric mind of Mike Patton. Not the kind of song (or album...or band) that I'd crank up in my car, but...
5. Megadeth - "Trust" Yes. Sure. A great latter-day Megadeth hit. That drum intro. Those heavy riffs. And that acoustic interlude. When this song came out, I was really just a casual Megadeth fan, with _Countdown to Extinction_ probably being the only album by them that I owned. So _Cryptic Writings_ hit me like a brick, and even though I know now that it's nowhere near their best work, it definitely got me started on the metal road.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
Hey I just remembered, though nowhere near my full collection out of simple frustration of ripping on this, I have a hell of a lot more music on my computer (only 65 hours? I should probably rip some more soon, ow). I'll go again too- Scorpions- We Were Born To Fly Enter crappy review land again. Love these guys. Humanity Hour 1 is insane, whole album. Not their best, but still up there. Ryche- My Empty Room Aw yeah. I'm not gonna cheat and skip it either. Uh... Yeah. A whole 1:32 of greatness. Best track. You want to get into Ryche, listen to this. Cantrell- Anger Rising Yay, not another intro track. Kickass. First solo Cantrell I heard. Also insane. How the hell do you guys write so much about the songs? I can't pick the things apart, it's a solid entity. Just a great song. Godsmack- Track 11 Ah, and we enter the ones I didn't label. Fun. Uh... It's Track 11. I really don't know what it's called or which one it's off, and I can't play anything on dial up. So... I'm sure it's good. Paramore- Born For This Good... I don't know the song all that well to describe it, but Paramore's cool. Uh, judging from the play count, I'd say it's one of my favorites, maybe. Since I'll just hit back and repeat it if I do. Hmm... Yeah, that's the whole "We don't want your headlines" one, I think. That one's kickass.

1. Smashing Pumpkins - Tales of a Scorched Earth (Mellon Collie, Disc 2)
I like this song, by no means the best song on Mellon Collie, bit too much fuzz and shitty vocal quality. Nice angry song though. Drumming as always is brilliant. 2. Neil Young - Walk On (On The Beach)
An emphatic yes! My favourite Neil album (On The Beach) and favorite Neil song! Such a nice, easy song. It actually makes you think your in a nice warm fuzzy place... 3. Rush - La Villa Strangiato (Hemispheres)
Yup. Love 70s, proggy Rush. The flamengo guitar at the start and the sheer Rushness of this song. Everything bulids to something - the crescendoes, rising and falling of the music. The musicianship of this band is astounding, 4. Nirvana - Oh, Me (Unplugged) Hell yes, I love NIrvana, they got me on the road to music. This Unplugged got me through a tough summer and I love it from start to finish. 5. Pearl Jam - Crazy Mary (Live At The Gorge) I have some real fond memories of seeing this live,up front with Eddie passing around the bottle. Simply one of the greatest bands ever. I don't think I could honestly find a song that didn't have even a little something I like about it !
Buy this! Now!! Seriously! its deadly! Also, look to the following links for greatness!! www.comeswiththefall.com http://rachey-roo.deviantart.com

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
Rifugium: I still OWN CDs. But through the magic of technologiezorz they are all on my computer for the ultimate listening experience. But if you really feel left out, close your eyes and point to 5 albums in your collection, then pick five random songs and express your love or hate for them.
OMG! I am so distracted by music as it is--the ultimate listening experience would do me in! How the hell do you focus on reality?! I am slowly advancing technology wise. But I am pretty much an old fashioned DORK!!! I usually listen to an entire CD at a time to preserve the song order as intended. BORING!!!! I will try to put my CD player on random when I get home. But I am not nearly as knowledgable about music as the rest of you are. I just appreciate it. Then again, Richy's song choices have me pretty fired up right now. . . .

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
1. Aphex Twin - Taking Control One of the better songs off of Drukqs, but still not a song I'd listen to a lot. 2. Porcupine Tree - Signify (live version) Yes, a excellent live extended version of a great song. One of their great rocking out songs! 3. Nine Inch Nails - The Mark Has Been Made (Live) Another live song, which happens to be an instrumental by Reznor and Co. I think it's a good song, from my favorite cd of his, The Fragile. 4. Mogwai - A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters Eh, a short little song, well more like an interlude, by an excellent excellent band. 5. Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize part 3 (Instrumental) The third and final part of Anesthetize, the instrumental is really soothing and relaxing to listen to. Again, not something I listen to a lot, but it's still a interesting track

Reality is what you make it. Actually I wouldn't really call my current setup the "ultimate" anything. I mean sure, I have all that music at my disposal, but it's not an ultimate listening experience without a quality sound system. Which will come if I ever move into a house. But for now, earphones and mini-speakers are good enough for me. And I do have a good stereo in the other room in case I feel like taking my CDs for a spin.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
1) "Godly Beings" by Obituary: Yes. I love Obituary. It's just a slice of great, heavy, death metal. 2) "I Ain't Superstitious" by Megadeth: Covers, the Megadeth way. I actually like this. I don't remember who the original is by... 3) "Internal Bleeding" by Obituary: YESSSSSSS. One of my very favorite Obituary songs. Nothing makes up for an overly long intro better than John Tardy's "ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!" in this song. Kick ass. 4) "Madhouse" by Anthrax: Love this song. Fun song to air guitar and sing along to in the shower. I recently made a metal mix for my friend, and I put this on there. 5) "Nobody's Fault" by Testament: Absolutely love this song. Probably one of my favorite cover songs ever (it's an Aerosmith song). It's quite dance-able too...every time I put my music on shuffle and this song comes on, I do a little dance in my chair...hehe.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
1. making love out of nothing at all- air supply. I guess I like this song more for sentimental reasons than anything. It is the first song my fiance and I danced to ( at my cousins wedding) and it was then that I realized I wanted to spend my life with him. And air supply is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. 2. Fat Bottom Girls- Queen I LOVE this song!!! I have a big butt. It is just a great song. 3. Vesti La Guibba- Jose Carreras Another great song. It is very powerful and emotional. And I can relate to it, when you have to put on the happy face and act, and pretend like nothing is wrong for everyone else. 4. I'll Stand By You- The Pretenders. My favorite Pretenders song. Again, I can just relate. 5. Again- Alice In Chains. My favorite song from Tripod. I always forget how much I like that song until I happen to hear it again.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
1. Joe Satriani - Devil's Slide Heeeyyy Joe, I want you to leave them synthesizers alone now, Heeeyyy Joe, I'm gonna shoot you down if I see you foolin' round again. 2. Metallica - Struggle Within Great solo and great drums in the intro, the rest sucks. 3. Neil Young - My My, Hey Hey (Out of The Blue) Good song, reminds me of of Cobain though, haven't heard Neil in quite a while, shuffle's a good thing I guess. (I really wish they would've just recorded this in the studio instead of live)
4. Wolfmother - Dimension Meh, a one-trick-pony band that gets stock after a few listenings, good live though. 5. Gov't Mule - Drivin' Rain The Mule + Hetfield + Claypool = a good song.....+ Hetfield, I mean, as much as I love Metallica he doesn't have to go raaahhhh or aaarrhhh after every fucking syllable.

It's still better than him trying to sing. 1. Alice In Chains - Sealed with a Kiss It's, um...ok. An early demo that's a look at what could have--and fortunately didn't--happen. ;)
2. The Ocean - Inertia Yes. Last song from the second album of one of the heaviest and most intense bands around. This song is a great conclusion to the album _Aeolian_, because it hammers you until the very last second of the album. This is my least favorite album by this band, but that's not to say it isn't amazing.
3. Floater - Strychnine Yes. A cool song from this great band's acoustic album.
4. Van Helsing's Curse - Let Me Prey Oh geez... Nothing like some Dee Snider Halloween music on this sunny February afternoon. It's good for novelty purposes, but should only be listened to once a year. Actually, much less than that. It's just TOO cheesy to be really good horror music. Still, it has it's moments, e.g. the guitar/violin solo in this song.
5. Dead Soul Tribe - A Stairway to Nowhere Yes. From DST's most recent album, which is probably their least memorable. And that's still good. Most of what Devon Graves does is great, but I think this album came out too fast. Take your time to make better music, brother. Still, this is a stand-out track on this album by this mostly good-quality band.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
Comes With the Fall-- Strung Out on a Dream: I love this entire album. Maybe even more than their new one. William's vox are powerful and dramatic, but not Geoff Tate in your face annoying. I love his old school hard rock style and this solo does not disappoint. ---- "Tonight just might be our time!"! Hellbound--JFC: From the opening ominous riff and moaning vox, I know I am really heading into Hell. But that's cool because Jer is with me. . . Wedding Dress- - Mark Lanegan: KyleW described this album as the feeling of being wasted. This one is the beginning of the buzz then. And I love how it goes into the maniacal laugh on Methamphetamine Blues--disturbing, but perfect!! "Will you remember me through the years I'll miss?" Absolutely!!!! Chain Letter--Spys4Darwin-- The acoustic/harmonica sound is a nice break from the crunchiness of the 1st 3 songs. And the sound of the bass.... Well I have already expounded upon that ad nauseum on here. . . .. . One Lonely Visitor-- Chevelle-- This is also a nice break from the crunchy heavy guitar sound on the rest of the album. This song makes me want to curl up in my bed in the fetal position with heavy blankets weighing down on me. But I love it. I feel like Pete is in the room with me when he sings.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion
Gonna take another shot at this, see if I can stop getting the same bands over and over again- Paramore- Crushcrushcrush Paramore's good. My only problem with them is their lyrics- sometimes I can relate, but never to a whole song, and just a line here and there is rare. But then again, it's the same with Ryche... I don't know the names to most of them, but this isn't their best... I get the feeling it's their big hit, though, the one everyone knows... Sixx:A.M.- Van Nuys Oh yeah, another insane one. The CD gets a little old after a while, but then again, it's almost never off here, so it's probably hard as hell to wear down under normal circumstances... This is another not best by band type song, but whatever. It's a little too not rock, if that makes sense. The chorus doesn't really fit to me. Nirvana- You Know You're Right Favorite song by them, and pretty high up there out of everything. The last "paaa-ayayayn-ayayayn-ayayayayn" kills me, how he holds it, and... One of my favorite vocal parts, just... Insane. Lyrics too, can connect pretty well to most of it... Pearl Jam- Betterman Higher up on my list of Pearl Jam songs. Pretty good. I'm not that into Pearl Jam, they're great and all, but there's just something that only clicks every now and then, and right now it's not, so... Hell, it's good and all, but... Just not right now, I'm in a heavier mood. Buckcherry- Crazy Bitch This is the one that's gonna finally get me flamed off here haha. It seems like everyone I talk to, I'm the only one who likes Buckcherry. Whatever. I have 15, and the whole thing's great, this song no exception.
