    Re: Aliceinchains.com Subscription?

First off, the subscription service will NOT include this Discussion Board. It will remain free and available to anyone who wants to sign up for an account.

And secondly, thanks for all your input. While the subscription service has launched, it's still very much in its early stages and so everyone involved with it (including The Baldy) is very open to ideas on how to make it a great fan club (though sorry, we can't make it free).

I'm glad the idea of contests was mentioned. We do plan on having subscriber-only contests that will feature prizes like autographed merch. The idea of a subscribers' only t-shirt is also under serious consideration.

The idea of some kind of holiday and birthday greeting is a good one too. I bet we can arrange that.

As for any ideas that involve tickets and live shows and meet and greets, I will pass those onto the band's management since those ideas are a little more complicated than a t-shirt or discount at the Store. Right now I have no idea if Alice will be back on the road in 2008 but if they are, we can hopefully arrange something special for our subscribers.

Please dont call it a fan club. It might turn into a fanclub with time, but right now its just a really expensive blog. No

See, this is wrong; you have to pay 30$ in order to participate the contest alone; there's no garantuee for a prize, it's like a lottery, you gotta buy a ticket first. This is what a fan-club should be all about --> to make sure you get something.

    Re: Aliceinchains.com Subscription?

I'm pretty sure there will be more stuff included then just a blog and a chance to win something. I believe the contest will be in addition to whatever merchandise and benefits you receive as a member. The contests should be considered an additional benefit.
That's how you become great, man, hang your balls out there.

    Coover:

The Playboy Channel (which makes men and lesbians very happy) is free-to-air in the United Kingdom.

Now, Lindsay, you're gonna tell us here in North America, we're supposed to pay something at an unreasonable price to read and watch amateur work from a guy we know as "the Baldy", while those in the UK can watch beautiful, naked women for free?

I almost fell off my chair, man. Niiiice.

I am also slightly offended and disappointed. I haven't paid someone to allow me to be a fan since Shaun Cassidy. It doesn't feel right when you are looking at 40 in a few short years. I should be done having idols by now. I am already shelling out $ for 2 shows and represent with 3 shirts, 1 hat, and 1 bumper sticker that probably won't help my situation if I get pulled over by a cop. I just keep telling myself it is the management and not the band members.

So, whats the deal now? You sign up and you can read the Baldy his reviews etc. what else? or when can we expect to know what else we get if we sign up?

Subscription update - all subscribers will be have a chance to win tickets to see Alice and Velvet Revolver. We have a dozen pairs of tickets to give away for all upcoming dates except for New York and LA where we have 10 pairs of tickets. Winners will likely be picked through a random draw and will usually be contacted a week in advance though things are going to be a bit more rushed for this week's shows.

    Re: Aliceinchains.com Subscription?

This $30.00 charge to read "THE BALDY" updates..... & then get a chance to win a pair of tickets (only l0 pairs at that); is a bad idea.  At this stage;  it'll only look like a money grabbing ploy.  Alice hasn't even been "back" yet....not really.  The fans have stuck around for 10+ years.  This charge is way too premature.  Re-think this situation before you piss off more fans..........this whole thing just got started........

    Re: Aliceinchains.com Subscription?

I would probably join, but things are just to vague.  Are there going to be some details given as to what exactly is involved?  It seems like right now things are just in the "idea" stage and they jumped the gun a little bit.
