    K

    1.) Birth Ritual- Soundgarden.

LOL what a great song. It has everything metal in it and more. I can never get how Chris Cornell sings that high.

    2.) London Calling- The Clash

This song is awesome. It is one of the defining songs in punk, most definitely. I love it.

3.) Kings of the Wild Frontier- Adam and the Ants

I love this song. The drum thing is really cool. I love Adam Ant.. he's the awesomest.

4.) Sweet Child O' Mine- Guns N' Roses

You know what? I used to LOVE this song. But after I heard about 50 million kids playing it every time I went to the guitar shop by my house I got sick and tired of the opening riff. Slash is still god though.

5.) Sour Girl- Stone Temple Pilots

YAY This is like my favorite STP song ever. I love the part that goes "The Roller Coaster ride's a lonely one..." The music video's great too.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion

Ooh, this is one of the coolest games I've heard so far! Here we go --

1.) "Cut You In" - Jerry Cantrell

Alright, we've got some Jerry right off the bat! This one's cool, quirky, catchy, and completely Jerry-esque. What more can I say? The main riff sort of reminds me of a tango dance, and I love the chorus line, "I cut you in, c'mon, let's go for a fall, I cut you in, don't let it go to your head, I cut you in, part-time friend..."

2.) "Open Your Eyes" - Alterbridge

Reppin' my boy Miles from Mayfield, OH! Anyway, I approve of this song as well. I personally prefer some aspects of AB's music to those of Creeds', and consider at least their first album (the only one I've heard fully so far) solid. This was the first of their songs I heard, and it won my fanfare instantly. The guy's got a great, memorable voice (sort of like Chris Cornells'), and the Creed boys give it their best. The song alone is a superb one; and a great single for their debut record.

3.) "Whimsical" - Days of the New

Now here's a winner...DotN never gets enough credit IMO; their all-acoustic sound is one-of-a-kind. Everything about this song, from the lyrics to the perfect, honey-like harmony of the voices that sing the words, to the flawless music itself melds together in perfect poetic fashion. An emotionally stirring and passionate song; as all their others. And a personal favorite of mine.

4.) "River of Deceit" - Mad Season

YES. That would be enough said right there, but I feel I should elaborate more; seeing as I have the entire song to spin some expression of my feelings into a few lines. Damn. I love this song. When I first heard it, back in the days before I was hip to Mad Season, I remember thinking, "this is one of Alice's absolute bests." Layne in one of his finest musical moments, IMO. The song says it all. Try as I might, no words exist to fully express my full feelings on this piece. Refreshing, truthful, and raw to the core - this can be a tearjerker, if you let it get to you enough.

5.) "Love, Hate, Love" - Alice in Chains

Ahh. I'm glad this one came up - it's one of my top five favorites as far as Chains songs go. The sensually stirring, hauntingly hard music of this blends to perfection with its words; making it equivelant to a classic in my mind. Like many of the greats (think "Stairway to Heaven"), it starts off slowly, progresses over a span of six-and-a-half minutes, builds up with great fervor, then falls back to its beginning riffs on a softer note. Almost reminiscent of an orgasm. (It had to be said.) This song just bleeds emotion. And passion. And everything I have no words left to describe. A true great.

    Led Zeppelin- No Quarter
My gosh, this band is amazing. This song is amazing..It's kinda creepy, Plant's voice, as always, epic. One of my fav. Zep songs. I woudl have to right a whole essay by the time this song is over, so im not gonna :D

    Mad Season- Wake Up
K I love this song. Though it's sad, and it makes me cry at times. Its beautiful, and Layne was an amazing song writer :)

    Stone Temple Pilots- Big Empty
This song, for some reason reminds me of being on a road trip, a sad yet relaxing road trip, Scott has an awesome voice.

Alice in Chains- A Little Bitter
This song is fuckin great!!!!!!!!! I wanna kick someone in the face when it hits the chorus, heavy guitar! I feel like kicking someone's face off now!

Mother Love Bone- Man of Golden Words
Another song that gets me emotional. Wood's voice is awesome. Gah, Im sure he wouldve gone far if he was still around :(

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion

    Ok, while I'm sitting here:

    1. Type O Negative - "Santana Medley: Evil Ways / Oye Como Va / Black Magic Woman"
Awesome, of course. LOL Type O covers are the best, mainly because they like to take songs that are totally uncharacteristic for their style and mutilate them into something dark and usually disrespectful, all the while making it sound like it was a song that they themselves originally wrote. This medley came at a great time because we hadn't heard anything new from the band in a while, and they just kind of threw this together without telling anyone.

    2. Led Zeppelin - "Custard Pie"
I like it. Kicks off Physical Graffiti with a classic groove. One of several songs on the album that people have probably forgotten about over the years. I haven't listened to this album for a while either. Might have to give it a full spin one of these days.

    3. Majesty - "The Farandole"
Oy. It's ok. Old school. This is an old old Dream Theater demo from back in the Majesty days. It's all instrumental; possibly a cover of an old folk song. I don't recall the history of the song off the top of my head; it might have been back when they didn't have a singer yet. The song has never surfaced on an official release, and I don't think they ever played it live. At least not as Dream Theater.

    4. Dead Husbands - "The Great Destroyer"
It's ok. A weird, avant-garde/noise track comprised mainly of coughs, voice-overs, odd ceramic percussion, and what sounds like old Atari sounds. Nothing I'd crank up in my car. Or would I? ... No.

    5. The Black Crowes - "Only a Fool"
I forgot I had anything from this band on my computer. Not really a fan. I wouldn't say they're bad, they just lack originality, therefore I really have no desire to listen to them. In fact, this song might be a cover. I don't know for sure.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion

I'll go again I guess, I forgot about this. Time to continue showing off my limited musical tastes.

    Kansas- Dust in the Wind

I haven't heard this in forever. Insane song. Damn... I forgot how great it was. I really need to pick up a Kansas cd at some point.

    Journey- Wheel in the Sky

Yeah. Journey pretty much kicks ass. I have their greatest hits or something, and they own. I mean, they're not like a drop everything and buy a cd band, but I still love em.

    Billy Joel- Allentown

I guess this is going to be old music day. Ok. I just need to stop getting all the radio friendly stuff for a minute. What is there to say on this one? It owns. Billy Joel is great. I have yet to find a song by him that I don't like.

    Ozzy- Mr Crowley

This is one of very few Ozzy songs I can really get into. His voice bugs me most of the time, and that overplayed I Don't Wanna Stop song, I can't stand it. I love the intro with a passion, though. I don't know, not all that crazy about it, but it's still good. I'm not all that sure why I have it.

    NIN- Closer

I don't like them that much, but I am relatively fond of a few, such as this one. Relatively, like I'd rather have them on my computer than Flock of Seagulls of something. I expect to be flamed for this one, don't worry. But I just can't get into them, and I don't get how people do. They're missing something, and they sound, I don't know, like watered down metal. I'm not sure why this one's on here either. I'm starting to get kind of sleepy. This is a waste of a couple megs. I could go on for the rest of the song, but I'll just continue my negative review once every fan yells at me. Don't want to tip my whole hand yet, there's not much in it Rolling Eyes

It's on a bonus CD single that comes with the _Symphony for the Devil_ DVD.

Re: The MP3 Shuffle Game / random music discussion

    1. Soundscape - "Discovery"
It's ok. My friend and his band released the album _Discovery_ over 10 years ago now, and this is the s/t track from that album. It's a decent prog metal album with elements of Yes, Dream Theater, and Jethro Tull in there. Nothing incredible, but an ok release.

    2. Mortification - "Way Truth Life"
I like it. From the last album from the godfathers of Christian death metal / hardcore. It's a short track, but there's a lot of thrash energy in there. Of course the lyrics are a little out there, but that's how this band goes. Even as a Christian, I find myself cringing at some of the lyrics, but the music is always good to thrash out to.

    3. Veruca Salt - "Victrola"
Meh. A short and not-to-memorable track from the first album.

    4. Ephel Duath - "Unpoetic Circle (Bottle Green)"
I like it. As opposed to most bands who are named after something from Tolkien, Ephel Duath is actually good. This is a good track from a diverse and interesting album in the progressive/avant/jazz metal scene. Overall, the vocals kind of bring it down a little, but musically, these guys are high quality.

    5. Steven Wilson - "Please Come Home"
I like it. A nice mellow piece for vocals, piano, strings, and acoustic guitar. One of the better songs from Wilson's 4-part "Cover Version" series, although this song is an original.

Wow, this could be scary, hope nothing too bad comes up

    1. Jonny Lang - Lie To Me:  Like it, like this whole CD- Darker Side good music to work to

    2. Korn - Right Now:  Like it, I'm a Korn fan

    3. New Orleans Is Sinking - Tragically Hip: Love it, introduced to the Hip w/this CD - Up To Here, every song on it rocks

    4. Dope - Die MF Die - Like it, good when you're pissed off cranked at top volume in car

    5. Rick James - Super Freak - ummm I knew this would happen  Embarrassed hey, I'm old

Super Freak? Yeah, you're old. Me, as part of the newer generation, I prefer Can't Touch This, but you old people can't accept MC Hammer's 'interpretation' of the beat Rolling Eyes

I'm really not sure where I was going with that one.

Would I be too far off when I say they're the UK Foo's?

    Shuffle:

Floater - But Rain Never Came

A 'tarded song serving no purpose other than giving the performing artist an erection for making "ArT" that no one else will understand and thusly making it cool. Sleep
The rest of the album's great though.

The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin

Good song, an eclectic mix of big-band, orchestra and a sort of radio play.

George Harrison - Got My Mind Set on You

Guess this was bound to happen some time........what, like you don't have faggy songs on your player that you dance to in the cold seclusion of your locked bedroom....or whatever.

    Sacred Reich - 31 Flavors

    Best song in metal, ever.

Metallica - The More I See

One of the better songs on Garage, Inc. Great bass sound too, still can't believe they let Newsted walk.
Respect to Trujillo but no one could get the crowd more riled up than Jason.
