angrycher:I was going to make a comment about the "ruckus" going on in the Layne Staley Tribute thread but I see it's locked at the present time. I just wonder if Layne is somewhere either laughing or rolling his eyes. When I read stuff like that, I wonder what he would've thought about it. Who knows? All I know is that there sure are a lot of people here who really, really miss him.
i'm sure that layne would not like that someone that calls themself a fan of his music would be slandering his mother in public like a certain party is doing so
sickness was fixing me some coughed out my heart in the last stall now that the damage is done i never miss it at all

Is that what he/she was attempting to do? After reading the posts, I wasn't sure what the heck was going on. Glad to hear the tribute was a success and can't wait till this years t-shirts are available online.

mermaidcave:whatever. this is supposed to be a positive thread about the memory of layne. i'd rather not drudge up stuff in here that is going on in another thread.
Yeah, same here...that's why I changed the subject there at the end. The whole point of my original post was to say that despite the other stuff going on elsewhere, we miss Layne.

I can relate to a few things you said... I am also 15 and unfortunatley never got to meet layne. Also, I wouldnt say i have an eating disorder, but i definatley have a problem. I've been listening to aic for about 3 years. I absolutley love them. A lot of ppl say im to young to understand aic or even like them but...i do. I miss layne every day. He was the most amazing singer, musician, person ive ever seen.(in my opinion) aic has helped me through a lot, and they still help everyday. Their music is undescribable, and i hope that one day i will be able to see them live. I just found out that they are playing in my area but before i knew that i bought tickets to see Staind...again..lol But seeing aic live is on my list of goals in life Madseason is crazy i LOVE that band soo much! what can i say that already hasnt been said? hehe they are amazing! i hope layne is at peace now. He is greatly missed evreyday.

mermaidcave: due to popular demand, this is a thread where you all can talk about the amazing layne staley. please feel free to post stories, thoughts, & memories of layne. Try to keep it on topic please. thanks, nicole
honestly, i just recently started listening to AinC again. when it was announced that Layne was gone, it shook me, really bad. i remember sitting right where i am right now and reading about it online. while one part of me was completely expecting it, the other part didnt want to face it. i ran and put on 'Jar of Flies' and laid across the bed... choked up, stunned and thinking to myself: 'if i'm this messed up over the news, how must his poor family and friends be coping with the loss??' i walked around for days thinking about what the music world had lost. i tried listening to the albums after that and just hearing Layne's voice was too much for me to take, so i put them away. from time to time i'd try to listen to them again, but it always twisted my stomach up so bad that i just couldnt. well, a couple of months ago, things started shifting and going on in my life that i hadnt planned on. music is my comfort, so one day i was looking for something to really speak to me and help me through my day. i thought of 'No Excuses.' i took out 'Jar of Flies'... the last AinC cd that i'd listened to entirely... and put it on. i guess the time was right. i not only listened to the whole thing and felt fine, but i was better than fine. my mood was lifted so much. i found myself smiling, singing along and thinking of funny moments with Layne and the guys on some of the vids i have. i even fished out my tape of 'Headbanger's Ball' with Alice in Chains at the water park. remember that?? CLASSIC stuff!! now i'm getting reaquainted with the band i loved so much for so long after having them in exile all this time. i miss Layne, like so many others do, but that's the great thing about his work. he'll be immortal in the albums and videos for millions who loved his work.

It's shame that the time that i started to enjoy AIC, layne has already gone.... but everytime i heard his voice and videos, i still have a feeling he was still alive. music won't die and so is Layne would live forever in our hearts! xxx

I have been a AIC fan since the early 90's. They are one of my husband's and I's favorite bands. My husband and I met in the summer of 1996 and I have so many fond memories of being with him when we were first together, and AIC always rocking in the stereo. The raw emotion in Layne's voice and the way Layne and Jerry would harmonize together. The music is just so emotional that words can't describe the way it effects me. Unfortunately, when my husband and I were married it was one of the happiest, yet saddest day ever. We were married on April 20, 2002. Neither of us had been listening to the news or radio that day with so much going on. After our ceremony we left the church en route to the reception and turned on the radio. An AIC tune was on, Don't Follow, and after it was over they had said that layne was dead. I lost it and began to cry uncontrolably. It took me a little while to get myself together and my husband was very upset also. Needless to say, the rest of my wedding day was full of mixed emotions. It was suppose to be one of the happiest days of my life, yet something horrible had just happened. Every year on our anniversary is the same. We are happy to celebrate our marriage but at the same time we are reminded of when we heard the horrible news.

It's almost as if Alice in Chains was meant to bring you two together and when you were married, it was like it's happened and Layne's dead. I'm just glad that the music is still with us.
