The Early Years
In 1992 a fresh-faced kid out of Mississippi comes to town.
We're told he has the potential for greatness yet he does everything a QB shouldn't do (doesn't plant his feet, throws from his back foot, throws across the field, forces plays that fall apart).
We've been told before that other QBs that came to Lambeau had potential but never panned out. We remain hopeful yet skeptical. The kid throws wildly.....with each throw we hold our collective breath and pray it reaches its mark and not land into the hands of the defense. It takes the entire first half for the kid to settle down.
But somehow we start to believe in him.

The Glory Years: The Gun Slinger
Brett reaches his potential and the rest of the world becomes aware of his greatness. He plays through injuries, his passion never letting up. He steps up and becomes a leader; a role model both on and off the field. He leads us to Superbowl XXXl and brings the Lombardi trophy back home where it belongs.
He stumbled along the way, becoming addicted to the pain killers that allowed him to play through injuries, but he overcomes that hurdle and doesn't look back. Along the way he gains the respect of his peers and broke the fingers of quite a few receivers.

All Washed Up?
The media says he's too old, he can't play the game anymore.
He suffers personal losses: his father and brother in law pass away, his wife is diagnosed with breast cancer.
Favre answers back breaking record after record.

The Day We've Dreaded
We knew in our minds this couldn't last forever but in our hearts we would not admit it.
Saying goodbye is not easy.

Thanks, Brett! It was a fun ride. We'll miss ya ~
And if you get tired of fishing, golfing and riding your tractor, we've got a number 4 jersey waiting for you.

PACKERS QB BRETT FAVRE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre formally announced his retirement March 6, 2008 in a news conference at Lambeau Field.
One of the most exciting and productive signal callers in pro football annals, Favre completes his 17-year career as the NFL's all-time leader in every significant career passing category - touchdowns (442), completions (5,377), attempts (8,758) and yards (61,555), plus wins (160).
A certain first-ballot Hall of Famer, Favre will be celebrated for his legendary durability even more than his prodigious numbers. His 253 consecutive starts (275 including playoffs) is the NFL record for quarterbacks and the second-longest recorded streak in league history. With 10 quarterbacks making their initial NFL start in 2007, a total of 212 signal callers opened a game since Favre began his starting streak Sept. 27, 1992.
The league's only three-time MVP, Favre led the Packers to 11 playoff appearances, including seven division crowns, four NFC Championship Games, two Super Bowls and a World Championship with a victory in Super Bowl XXXI.
