PunkyLunky: Rifugium: PunkyLunky: Rifugium: Seriously. Name one other band that has been together for 40 years, been active that whole time in the studio and on the road, never broken up or gone on hiatus, and never changed their lineup (excluding that first album which doesn't count :P ). Not to mention a music catalog that at least averages out to be extremely mighty.
Name one other band that even comes close to meeting all those credentials. The only one I can name without thinking too hard is King's X; just change the "40 years" to "23 years."
Stones?
No. Stones had lineup changes. Plus, didn't they have a hiatus in the late 90's? Also, their albums don't average out as good. Plus, Rush never did a song with a rapper. Oh wait, yeah they did. But Rush's song was better.

Yeah, well... Rush is just better all-around. I never liked the Stones. I didn't realize they'd had a lineup change (shows how much I know about them; not a fan) so I thought they'd compare....
That line up change happened so long ago, it barely counts. Only die hards are aware of it. And Neil kicks almost all other drummers in the A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

couldn't agree with you guys more. rush is one hell of a band. alex's tone is incredible, always recognisable. he really incorporates a lot of diffrent styles in his playing and his harmonics are crazy. nice to see alex back with gibson too... i think his tone really suffered with the prs's he played in the 90s. not knockin prs, but they didnt suit his thick and chuncky tone. and geddy, man, prolly one of the best bassists in rock and roll history. you can always hear the bass notes in a rush song... his lyrics always contain powerful meaning as well. and what a hero neil peart is for getting back together with rush after loosing his wife and child. it worried me when rush went on hiatus for a few years when neil went out on his motorcycle trip... that is some peoples way of coping i guess. most people would prolly have just quit trying in life after that kind of hardship. long live the original power trio!
show fine, no signs, grow blind

Ticket prices in general--GASP!!! What are we working class gonna do?!?!?! For the Toronto show my husband was on edge (Rush is his Alice)---I had to do the fanclub ordering at work--I happened to be very ill on that day-entered the wrong expiration date and our card was blocked. I had to drive home in a snow squall to get another card. Turns out, the Canadian presale won't accept Discover- -- -We missed the whole freaking presale!! I had to sell my soul to a scalper for 3X as much. . . . BTW ~ There is MORE online Rush lusting than Alice lusting. . . .there is even a girls only board!!! Here's my proof--and I love him (just not in that way)!!

Rush is truly a living legend. I can remember when Permanent Waves came out. I was 16 at the time, then found their earlier stuff, then Moving Pictures came out and I knew I was hooked for life. I still have most of their albums on vinyl. Classic. I haven't missed a tour since the early 1980's. An awesome band to see live. They have made some great albums, but I love their live music much more than the studio. Saw them last summer, and there hasn't been any change in their presentation all these years. And that's so cool. The same three guys, no hype, no drama, no fluff. Just powerful, straight-on, intelligent virtuosic rock. And it's always a stoner-friendly show.

LOL. The stress we go through to try and get good seats (and not have to pay out the a-hole to a broker). Sorry to hear you missed the presale. Same thing happened to me several years ago when I was trying to get tix to Robert Plant and Strange Sensation except Ticketmaster's website froze/fucked up (it showed I had 2nd row) right as I was putting payment info in. ARG!! By the time I got back on....whatever, still a good show from the back Shit pissed me off at the time! What date is your Rush show?

OMG! The whole ticket ordering system needs revamped!!! When I was on the phone with the scalper, I just wanted to SCREAM in her ear!!! But I needed her at the same time! The only way to deal with scalpers is to have everyone show ID and pick up tix at the venue. And, obviously, that will never happen!!! Once you have a taste of the front row, being in the back SUCKS!!!! Especially for us wee folks. . . 7/9 Toronto-- I LOVE seeing them in their hometown!!!!!! 7/17 Hershey

Everyone has got to see Rush at least once though. I just think it sucks for people that have waited this long, since ticket prices have more or less doubled or even tripled in the past five years or so. I'm flipping through my ticket book, and looking at my first and last Rush concert: 6/14/02 - $29.50 + $6 CC (T Center) 7/08/07 - $61.00 + $6 FC (PNC Arts Center)
So yeah. Two different venues, but basically the same layout/seats. Five years, prices doubled. And then this year, same venue, same seating tier: 7/12/08 - $90.25 + whatever ungodly service charge applies. So in one year, the ticket price increase alone was essentially the amount I paid for the first show. In other words....PASS.
The only plus side is at least Rush typically plays a solid 3 hour set.
