No sweat - I've seen some shops in the past that boost prices a few
months before a big summer sale, and then suddenly you're getting these
big "discounts" and thinking you're getting a great deal.

to be clear, I'm not saying that's what the web-site is doing that,
because prices vary everywhere, but I've different stores use different
sales tactics and it's always a good idea to shop around.

I think some guitars are over priced as they are, especially the Les
Pauls as their quality control is very poor - I played every Les Paul
standard in the different stores in my city before I found one I was
happy with, and I'm not even a guitar snob, I just want a straight
neck, that it stays in tune, and sounds good.
