Which song, if you had to pick one - and only one - of AIC's would you select as the one that best represents the band? This is an extremely difficult and divided discussion, I realize, and I'm not so certain myself.

I will, however, defend that "Whale and Wasp" (strange as it may be that there are no words involved) is one of these songs...with only music, I believe it captures the essence of Alice more beautifully, perhaps, than even entire albums can...just my opinion. Others?

A little Bitter

Layne is so intense and angry like he is directing the lyrics at somone who has wronged him. Every member really shines in that song.

Get Born Again and Head Creeps should not be forgotten either.

Fuck this is hard... but would have to say...down in a hole. The lyrics just reach out and grab my soul. The harmony between Layne and Jerry is near perfection. The lyrics are spot on for me. That song moves me and Nutshell describes me. Know you said only one but come on...

Maybe Would?

Id say "BLeed the freak".  Its heavy, angry, and an all around bad-ass song.  I think it articulates the unique sound AIC has.  There's just nothing like it.

Head Creeps is like a big "Fuck You" to the people who wanna down you.

I see Would? as "the grunge anthem", and it's maybe their best known song too, + it rocks. Also the music vid is well made and suits the song.

Hmmm this is a really hard one. I'm listening to Angry Chair at the moment and want to say that, but I'm sure that would change if I had a different track on. Would does seem like a great choice, but there are so many songs to choose from that could be said about that.

I'm gonna have to go with a really obvious choice "Man In The Box". One of Layne's best ever vocal performances, great lyrics, great guitar solo, has that distinctive AIC feel and just great all round...
