Absolutely amazing show! Alice in Chains is one of the few bands that sounds just as good if not better acoustic. The guys joking around on stage gave a real sense of a more laid back show. It was nice to hear Sean and Mike talk more on the mic. The highlights of the evening were Mike feeding the crowd potato chips ( they were delicious, thanks Mike!) and allowing some of the crowd to be on stage for 2 songs. I think I speak for many AIC fans when I say, thanks alot for coming to Myrtle Beach to do this show, it meant alot to me as I am sure it did to others. You guys are amazing, your music is timeless. -D-

Truly amazing show. Even got a drumbstick to prove it. LOL. I caught the last one that was thrown to the balcony. I saw them last October which was amazing. This time around they did appear to be more relaxed. The audio was incredible. William definitely showed why he was brought into the fold. His vocals definitely were at the next level. We had the pleasure of meeting both him and Mr. Kinney after the show. My hats off to both of them for giving it all and finding energy to meet with a couple hundred fans afterwards. I don't know if I would be able to do it. Regardless, I hope they come through again next year. To everyone who have tickets to upcoming shows get ready for a very good time. There is one question I would like answered. You always hear Mike Inez play the start to "Rotten Apple" at one point or another during their concerts. Last night he even went to the extent of saying something along the lines that William can sing the hell out of the song. Is there an official reason why they don't do it during the concert? It is a very intricate song and I could see were it would be extremely difficult to play live. However, they were so tight last night anything that they played would have sounded awesome. Standard Tour Set List: Intro/Don't Follow Heaven Beside You Brother I Can't Remember Nutshell The Killer Is Me Roadhouse Blues/Angry Chair Sludge Factory Love, Hate, Love No Excuses Down In A Hole Got Me Wrong Curtains (Elton John) Squeeze Box (The Who) Would? Rooster

Re: Myrtle Beach, SC (HOB) 10.13.07
I was at the Myrtle Beach show last year as well, and I think I enjoyed this one more. That may be because I could focus less on the "I can't believe I'm finally seeing AIC live" reaction and really just listen; who knows? Either way, the show was great, and it was awesome to see them again. It seemed that the band was more relaxed this time and having more fun during the show. This time around, they've already proven themselves and can just do what they do. Mike's playing the opening to "Rotten Apple" was a major tease, but I mostly heard everything I wanted to hear. The opening band was actually entertaining as well. Now on to the post-show, "trying to meet the band" stuff that lots of people here don't care as much about :) Last year, we stayed behind and got pictures and autographs from everybody but Mike. After last night's show, we stuck around and I got pictures taken with William and Sean again, as well as one of me with Big Val :) As for seeing Jerry again, Big Val announced that he wouldn't be coming out to meet fans. Interestingly, this announcement was made shorty after two very flirtacious chics talked their way backstage. Unfortunately, Mike didn't come out this year either, so my hopes of having autographs/pictures with all of the members are put off for now. Again, though, it was an awesome experience to see my favorite band again.

I pointed them out to my wife, too. LOL. I have to say they coolest thing was when I showed the picture of Sean Kinney and my wife to my eight year old daughter and asked her who he was. She replied, "The drummer from Alice in Chains."

Re: Myrtle Beach, SC (HOB) 10.13.07
My brother and I both were very disappointed that Mike or Jerry didn't come out of the bus so we could get some pics. Mike appears to be a genuinely nice guy and always seems so appreciative of the audience, constantly smiling and pointing at people. Still, we were pleased to meet William and Sean. They were both very personable and took their time with each fan (even the young guy that took his pic with Sean like 4 times b/c it wasn't coming out right). It was also a real treat to hear them play a little of Love Me Two Times since the Doors are another favorite band of mine.

First I want to say that the show was kick-ass, but the end kind of caught me off-guard. I didn't expect AIC to compare the Vietnam war to the Iraq war. I always thought AIC stayed out of politics but apparently not. Do they do this at the end of every show?

Lately, yes.....and Jerry's always been very vocal about being anti war, even wrote a song about it called Rooster......

Re: Myrtle Beach, SC (HOB) 10.13.07
pt.1) GREAT show! Very memorable in detail even 6 months later. A couple of funny things happened at this gig. At least I thought they were funny. First one was before the show when I stepped out a side door from the Gator Bar in the restaurant building of the HOB "complex" and saw a single file line of people just standing there with a few security escorts, (this was at least 2hrs. before showtime) and when i asked what was goin' on I was told this was the VIP line. LMAO I replied "VIP's don't have to stand in line" and an hour later when I looked out they were STILL standing there. If anyone else here was one of those "VIP's" I mean/meant no offense to any of you,and if the reason why y'all went the "VIP/Pass The Line" route was to get a chance at snaggin' one of the few actual seats/barstools avaliable (w/o havin' to pay a shitload of extra $$$) or to secure a place in the front up against the stage,I understand. However,as a veteran of approx. 25 shows at this particular HOB I can tell you it's a boring waste of time to wait in line like that. This HOB has good sightlines (and decent sound) and even though it's one of the bigger ones, (the music hall alone can hold up to 2,000,more actually-but the fire marshall limits it to 2k) it still has a very intimate feel and I've never had a problem findin' a good spot or gettin' fairly up close or goin' to the back of the hall to get a beer and then gettin' back to my spot-and this is w/o makin' an ass of myself and steppin' on toes or pissin' people off. So I say screw that "pass the line" nonsense and and just hang out mingling with all your brothers & sisters and have a drink or two. Heck man,i'll even buy ya a round.......Pt.2 will follow shortly.

Re: Myrtle Beach, SC (HOB) 10.13.07
pt.2) So finally the doors open-in we go,and after checkin' out all the cool new swag at the merch table I move further in only to be confronted w/a big ass sign tellin' me that by ARTIST request this will be a non-smoking show. It was a nice night out though so they had the verandas open on both floors to grab a puff on so no big deal. This non-smokin' thing comes into play in a funny way mid-way thru the show, that's why i'm mentioning it. Surprisingly this gig wasn't sold out and considering it was one of only eleven acoustic shows, and therefore rare & special, made that fact even more surprising. The full-on they did the year before (also in the fall) sold out a few weeks before the date, (which you could smoke all you wanted to at) which made this being a non-sell out seem strange. I'd guess there was around 1200 souls present. Anyways, first up was Social Ghost,a nifty little can-do power trio w/some solid songs, decent vocals and a monster of a drummer. With some nurturing from the right producer/A&R person they could really be a force to reckon with. THE MAIN EVENT: From the get-go it was ON,soundin' real good and by the 2nd track soundin' excellent. Duvall sounds good to me doing a full-on,but stripped down like this you can tell he was the right choice. Close enough to Layne to induce shudders, but so obviously his own man. Live the chemistry is the there, but I wanna hear how his writing meshes w/the other guys on record. I dug the chinese lanterns (nice touch) and the background projections were both stunning and perfectly in sync w/the music. So we're on cruise control here and feelin' groovy (that's right,I said groovy) when Jerry decides to spark up a ciggy. Immediately 1000 people start chantin' "YOU CAN'T SMOKE,YOU CAN'T SMOKE",to which Cantrell laughs off and puffs away. At this point I say the hell w/this and fire one up myself...If you're not gonna follow your own rules, don't expect me to. People are still chantin' and there's Jerry & I,draggin' away. It was funny,it really was. So here comes the encores and Mikey walks out w/a bag of chips which he proceeds to share w/people in the front row-hey Inez, considerin' the price of the tix, ($40 each) I sure hope those were gourmet!.......(Actually,once the band gets paid their advance fee the promoter sets the ticket price, but that's a whole 'nother frustrating arguement.) My only real gripe is I thought it was too short and left me hungry for more, but maybe that's the point. Other than a few one-offs here and there for special occasions & benefits I hope they don't play too many of these "unplugged" type gigs for a long time. I wanna keep my braggin' rights for awhile. "Oh yeah, those acoustic shows back in '07,I remember that run.....I WAS THERE!!
