    Re: Live

A decent live album. I love Angry Chair into Man in the Box. Also, nothing beats the intro to God Am.

    Re: Live

Junkhead is one the best live recordings of a song ever.

    Re: Live

After listenening to the studio albums to death, this album was a refreshing suprise. It was neat to hear God Am live. Wish it would have been a double CD set. You can tell Layne is somewhat drifting away in the 1996 material. They were pretty tight live.

RIP Layne. The music lives on..........

    Re: Live

You'd think Hate to Feel and It Ain't Like That would be included on this cd, as they're on the Angry Chair single.

    Re: Live

Live is a extraordinaire album. Yes It really shows that Alice in Chains is a great band. They can sound a lot better alive than in studio!!! For me, this album has the best version of "Bleed the freak" "God am" "Again" and "A Little bitter". Perfect!!

    Re: Live

I love Again on this. Especially Layne's second scream, for want of a better word. SO much power, from such a skinny guy! Eek

    Re: Live

I have to admit, I have never owned this album. I saw AIC with Layne twice, and attended the 7/3/96 show, which was their last with Layne. A Litlle Bitter, and Dam That River on this disc are from that show. I lived it man, I don't need to own the disc. Plus, I thought it was just a way for the record company to cash in on Alice's name because everyone KNEW they were not coming back while Layne was still alive. I truly believe that AIC would have NEVER got back together while Layne was still around, unless he found a way to get clean. He shut these guys out at the end. He did want to even speak to them, much less make more music!! Just my opinion, for what it's worth!!! (Probably not much)

The fact that you were there is all the more reason for you to own the album.

    Re: Live

I listen to this album every day on the way home from work.   It sounds ritualistic, and perhaps it is, but I just have to listen to it over and over again.  In the car I can jack up the volume to a level my neighbors would never tolerate.

A LITTLE BITTER is a masterpiece on this cd, as is every single track here.   Sometimes it's the little things -- Layne's "yeaya" right before MAN IN THE BOX or the deliciously cathartic F*ck You! in QUEEN OF THE RODEO.   It's not just that Layne rips tiles off the ceiling with that voice on this one: everyone in the band is in their glory on track after track.  They were so tight, musically.  When Layne goes slightly off key for "Have I gone, and left you here alone" in WOULD, I sigh at the beauty of AIC.

The ONLY thing that drives me nuts in the middle of this cerebral infusion of reminders of why being alive is a good thing are those missed words on DIRT.  I don't know when Layne started leaving them out -- but they freaking make the song, or let's say add a lot to it.

"I want you to scrape me from the walls and go crazy ...." (omitted on later versions: LIKE YOU MADE ME!).

    Re: Live

Really? Not trying to stir anything up here or anything, but I thought this album sucked... I've listened to it straight through under 5 times, probably 3 times the more I think about it, and I decided to just put it away. It's not like I only listen to album versions and think that's the band, it's just that there are a lot of bootlegs (even low quality ones) that I think show off the band better. I don't know exactly what it is about the cd that drives me crazy, but I can't stand to listen to it. I clicked on this thread expecting to see everyone sharing my opinion on this, but maybe I'm alone here in hating it.
