    Help With The Videos...

Ok so I subscribed to the "all access" thing a couple of days ago and I just got round to watching the AiC videos, but when I click the link to watch one, it tells me

     "MOVIE CANNOT BE OPENED"

    because

      "MOVIE CONTAINS INVALID DATA REFERENCE"

    So now I'm like...

I'm using a Mac, if it makes an difference...  help!

If you're on a Mac, are you using Safari? If so, that's likely the problem. Can you try using a different browser?

Also, the videos only play in Windows Media Player so make sure that you have that on your computer.

    Hope that helps,

    Lindsay

Tell me about it, nothing seems to work at all with Safari...   it's like I'm being discriminated against because I use Mac

     -------

The problem might be because I don't have WMP on my Mac, however, I will download it and tell you if it works, and if not, I want a 400% refund

Haven't heard back that things are still not working - can we assume joy?

WMP on a Mac should have resolved this issue Yes

...You my friend, I will defend.

And if we change, well I love you anyway.

    Re: Help With The Videos...

I'm hoping you guys can help me too - I'm on a PC w/XP & WMP & can't play the videos either. I've tried at home, but there I only have dial-up so it's not going to work; whenever I try at work or at my daughter's house I get this message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the server is not available (for example, the server is busy or not online)."

The server can't always be busy/offline, so maybe there's something I can do to fix this? Please let me know if you need more info to solve the problem.

    Thanks a million! :)

Hmmm.... Are you running the latest version of WMP? If not, can you download it from here?

Also, when you go here: http://www.vdat.com/techsupport/windowstest.asp does the test video play? (Make sure to give it a few minutes, it can be slow.)

    Re: Help With The Videos...

    Hi Lindsay,

The test video didn't play, so I downloaded the latest version of WMP (which I thought I had already, but whatever) -- still nothing. Do you have any more suggestions?

Either way, thanks for trying! :)

    Re: Help With The Videos...

Heya - I'll jump in here as I had a chat with the tech fairies, here's how that went:

Sounds like Caren is experiencing an issue specific to her computer and not because of our files, since she is reporting that the test video did not work.

She should check the specific error number of the error she's receiving. She should be able to find this by clicking on the "More Information" or "Web Help" button on the error message when it pops up. There is a list of error numbers up on this page.

There are a number of reasons that it might not be working for her: misconfiguration, missing codec, bad install (might need to fully uninstall and then reinstall), and so on. Tracking down the error number might help shed some light on the specific issue she's running into.

Then he left this on my desk...

...You my friend, I will defend.

And if we change, well I love you anyway.

Thanks Gwen & Mr. Tech Fairy!!

I used this problem as an excuse to take another step into the 21st Century & get high-speed internet. So, now I can watch all the videos whenever I like.

Soooooo, where's the new music?? MusicMusicMusic Big Smile
