    Rifugium:

But the award for best riff of all time still indisputably goes to:
Metallica - The Frayed Ends of Sanity (at the 4:00 mark)

I've heard many tunes in my days, but there's still no riff that's quite as great as that one.

I'm with you on that one!!

    What about Kyuss eh?

Sure, if you put their riffs under a microscope there's nothing special but they do have a great fucking sound and tone to them.

I could never get the sound out of my guitar that they get, playing drop C feels like jumping friggin' rope (boing-boing-clang) No

EDIT: Since when did "fucking" stop being auto-censored!! that's fucking awesome!

    LOL

I forgot to mention Rammstein's Engel, unless I didn't forget, then I'm just emphasizing it's importance. Smile

    Re: Greatest Guitar Riffs

I'm not big into Rammstein, but they have some killer riffs. "Heirate Mich" gets me riled up.

    Deimos:
playing drop C feels like jumping friggin' rope (boing-boing-clang)
And Type O Negative uses drop B.

I think Kyuss is in C standard tuning, but I'm not sure since my ears totally suck. Gardenia, Writhe, Thong Song and that huge riff before the solo in Demon Cleaner are all awesome.

    Alice in Chains:Them Bones, Rooster

Black Sabbath: Chorus riff to Killing Yourself to Live

    Moterhead: (We are the) Roadcrew

Jimi Hendrix: Purple Haze (my favourite)

    Theres tons more but............................
