    User's Local Time

We have users from dozens’s of countries on this board, with numerous time zones.

If it's possible, can please have user local times against their name/avatar/date of joining etc in threads?

This data is already in user profiles so without being too technical minded, I rekcon it could be done without to much fuss.

Would make it easier knowing what time it is for other users when it comes to expect responses in threads, PM’s etc.

    THANKS!

    Agreed.

This would be quite useful, and I don't think it's too much effort.

It could be done, tech fairies could do up some code, but I am not sure how this would benefit users?

    Help me, help you!

    Re: User's Local Time

Ok..I'm a regular poster in the Layne Pic thread. I'm interacting with someone in Brazil, someone in France and a bunch of Americans, and I'm in Australia - it's pretty fast paced in terms of how many posts per day. I'm also PM'ing with a lot of these users.

I often find myself sitting alone in the thread for ages, and I have to look up a timezone converter for my buddies to find out if they are asleep or what time of day it is in their respective countries.

Naturally threads are slow when the majority of the users are sleeping....I think it'd help users, particularly those of us not based in the US, have some kind of perception of real time posting.

    my two cents.

    Re: User's Local Time

I hear what you are saying and my recommendation is as such...

    1. Visit your profile setup [Part One - Timezone]
    - Click your username in the top right (beside Welcome back)
    - Click the 'Site Options' tab
    - There is a Timezone dropdown menu, select which one you currently reside in

    2. Visit your profile setup [Part Two - Notifications]
    - Click your username in the top right (beside Welcome back)
    - Click the 'Email' tab
    - Click the YES radio buttons
(specifically: Enable Email Notifications of forum/thread subscriptions and replies to my posts.)

This should help you in that folks have the choice to list their location or their timezone if they want to.  Setting up notifications is also useful so that you can roam freely and when a reply to your posts or PMs are made you'll receive an email to the address associated with your AliceInChains.com account. You'd then click the link in the email to jump right back to the site and the location of the reply.

Hope this helps - any hiccups, just post in here - I'll get a reply in my Inbox and pop back in Wink

    Re: User's Local Time

Ok thanks. Already had set up my timezone - but for the record, I think could be an hour out (GMT + 10:00 Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne)

There are a few others who are not based in the USA who have expressed preference for being able to see other's time zone's in threads - if this helps my cause!
