    Re: MTV Unplugged

I am sure the band and the audience had no idea of quite what to expect that night. Layne did not appear very well at the show and I am sure the proposition to do this type of show in a more intimate setting was somewhat awkward for him at the time. With that being said, I am amazed at the performance he gave(along with the rest of the band). You could see that Jerry had Layne's back. The choice of the opening and closing number was kind of poetic. The Sludge Factory flub was funny and there were some light moments but at the heart of the matter, you could see a group of serious musicians who wanted to provide a solid performance of their material. These songs did not lose any power despite the acoustic setting, the prophecy and fears in some of the lyrics appeared coming closer to fruition. The magic was still there and the band delivered a gem. Layne was right, it was the best show they did in three years.....LOL

RIP Layne. The music lives on..........

Well said Pittsburgh Smoker! I totally agree. Especially about the music not losing it's potency. Imo it seemed to magnify the strength and depth of the music. The performance also gave me alot of insight into the chemistry between the boys, especially Layne and Jerry. It just blew me away, still does, probably always will.

I still wish that there was a Facelift song in the set.

    Re: MTV Unplugged

If you could've requested any AIC song at this show what would it have been?  There are many I would've wanted to hear, but I think "I Stay Away" would've been my pick if I only had one.

    Re: MTV Unplugged

Just bought the CD for about 3 quid (Yup, a bargain Mr Green) and its amazing. I would have liked to have heard Sea Of Sorrow unplugged, would have been interesting for sure. Not that I'm complaining, considering Jerry had food poisoning and Layne was a bit frail they sounded incredible. Rating out of 5: YesYesYesYesYes

    Re: MTV Unplugged

As a very new Alice fan, i love Unplugged my favourite songs being Nutshell, Brother, Frogs, Rooster and Would, i love Rooster done the other way unacoustically (forgive me i'm not musically literate) the power of Laynes voice reaches me in a way no other singer has ever done before, it was a great show and i must admit i have watched Unplugged or listened to it nearly everyday, usually i watch it before i go to bed it's a very calming show to wind down and relax to

    Re: MTV Unplugged

I can't go a day without listening to this album. Nutshell still gives me shivers everytime I listen to it. "Got Me Wrong" and "Heaven Beside You" are my happy songs.
