    Re: Upcoming release

    good comment

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM TO COME OUT!!! the great thing abut alice is that every album is completely different in every way. whenever i got a new aic cd i was always surprised as to what i was hearing. each cd is so dissident from the others but no matter what, those erie undertones are there that we all know and love. no doubt that those same undertones are going to be in this album. i heard as other people heard and that is that the cd should be coming out late this year. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME - but at the same time you got to respect wht there doing and give them time to create this whole new sound for us to try and comprehend. i wouldn't protest if this album took longer, cause their just working harder on it. as long as it's no chinese democracy i'll be fine. but i'll deffinately be the first in line (as will everyone else) for this new cd. can't wait to hear more info on there cd, and the new song titles and the cover and the fucking TOUR, it will be so awesome. i just dig that there is finally something to look forward to in music these days. THANK YOU AIC!

p.s. if anyone thinks that william duvall cant do it - well that's just too bad cause he is doin it and hes bringin the boys back together which is awesome!

Can't wait. Does anyone know when any information will be released about the album? Is it supposed to come out this summer?

For some reason, I've got November in my head, but I really don't remember why, so... LOL Anyone else feel like throwing out a random month?

When Jerry loses the current "mountain man" look, I think we can expect something soon after : )

    Re: Upcoming release

I can't wait. I just heard William Duvall sing on 'Nutshell' with Jerry and it sent chills down my spine.

I will buy it on the first day it comes out.

The only album I bought by AIC on the first day was 'Tripod' I was 14 years old and heard 'Heaven Beside You' and had to have it. I had gotten into AIC late '94 and started picking up their albums but only Tripod on the day it came out.

Fans haven't had new material from any of the guys since...what 2004 when Jerry was with Damageplan on THE PUNISHER soundtrack CD?

    Re: Upcoming release

Hard to comment on an album that has not yet come out!! Anticipation and speculation are about all we can do here!!! Hope it does not suck!!! Even though I KNOW the guys will NEVER put their name to an inferior product. Hell, we don't get much anyway!!! This particular thread has turned into sort of a slugfest between people who are anticipating and people who are naysaying. I will be one of the first in line to buy it, I just hope it gets here soon!!! The one thing I am looking most forward to is to see how DuVall stands up on his own, these will not be the Layne covers that he did on tour!!! The way a lot of people on this site seem to hype up Comes With The Fall, I am sure he will hold his own. He was stellar on tour, hope it is the same in the studio!!! Can't wait!!!!

    Re: Upcoming release

Am I the only one that gets chills every time i hear Layne's voice? I just dont get that feeling from Will. But I still know this is gonna be a kickass album and i can't wait until they release it. Maybe they will play a song from it at Houston in June??? Well Thats my input on it. Excited and Mourning.

    Re: Upcoming release

Dude, don't even give me the Nirvana comparison, it's not nearly the same. Kurt wrote all the songs in that band the other guys were basically hired hands. Jerry wrote 90% of the music and a good portion of the lyrics in AIC, not to mention sings on most of the songs(sometimes even sings lead vocals). And he's the guitarist. Layne didn't play guitar in AIC. Kurt did in Nirvana.

Folks, let's keep it on topic...Rif worked hard to come up with a place to discuss Alice's music...take the off-topic stuff to a more appropriate thread please?

    Re: Upcoming release

This was on blabbermouth today (05-14-08)

The Pulse of Radio reports that ALICE IN CHAINS is finally working on music for its first all-new studio effort since 1995's self-titled third album. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell confirmed that he, bassist Mike Inez, drummer Sean Kinney and new singer William DuVall have been writing songs for months, but told The Pulse of Radio they're not rushing to start recording. "We've been working about the last four months, and there's a good bulk of music and a good body of work so far, and we're having fun, and you know, we're taking our time and trying to figure out where William fits in and where we need to step up, and I have all the confidence in the world in the guys," he said. "The most important thing to me is that we're all together and, you know, it's been a tough and painful experience at times, but it's been very rewarding at the same time."

ALICE IN CHAINS has tentative plans to release a new album by the end of this year, although the group has not begun recording or selected a producer.

ALICE IN CHAINS officially regrouped in early 2006 after a 10-year absence with DuVall stepping in for late frontman Layne Staley, who died in 2002.

The group did its own headlining tour in the summer and fall of 2006, followed by a 2007 co-headlining jaunt with VELVET REVOLVER.

Cantrell said he doesn't expect ALICE IN CHAINS to play live in 2008 unless a special event comes up or until there is a new album to promote.

ehh, little disappointed that they aren't worried about getting it out soon. Oh well, I'll just be glad that there will be new material at all.

    Re: Upcoming release

AiC mean the world to me.  I grew up with them - I 'danced' to them - I screwed to them - I headbanged to them - I drank to them - I lived them - I mourned with them.  Since 2002 I have had a serious void in my life. Now I have a new baby daughter, and now I have something else to look forward to.

Thank you Jerry, thank you Sean, thank you Mike... and thank you William.

I had two tickets to your last show in London... I couldn't go... my memories of seeing you there with Layne back in '96 (I think) were too vivid - what an amazing night!  So I gave my tickets away!!  But now I feel ready, ready for Alice mkII - like AC/DC with Brian Johnson; Maiden with Brucey; Purple with Gillan!!!!!  For fooks sake, this is going to be amazing!!!!!

Just PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come back to the UK soon, so I can get to see you again.

    Thank you again,
    Chief Ady

    Re: Upcoming release

Eh, I could be a little more thrilled about having to wait longer to see 'em, but I'll live...

I still can't wait for the new album, though. As much as I keep seeing it's going to take longer, it really isn't killing it for me...

Sounds like there's trouble in paradise.  They've been touring for several years now..they should know whether or not the chemistry is there with DuVall.  The fact that it's not coming together very quickly tells me it's not going well.

Yep, the new album is going to suck.

    Re: Upcoming release

I don't take that statement to mean "trouble in paradise".  I take it to mean that it is emotional to be back together recording as Alice in Chains without Layne.  Touring is one thing, but now they have to go through the creative process with a different dynamic, and I'm sure they are reminded of Layne all the time.  That is the tough and painful experience that Jerry is talking about.  At least that's my interpretation of his statement.  The new album will be awesome.  AiC was the best because they could channel thier pain like no other band.
