    Depeche Mode

Great consistent band. I've read that Graham took his first singing lessons for the "Ultra" album. My fav DM song is "Barrel of a Gun"
"What do you mean, I'm a wild front man! I'm jumping all over, I do the dance moves..."

They surprised me with their new album It's so damn good. "Suffer Well" and "The Sinner in Me" are my 2 favs. Actually the whole damn 1st half of the album is pretty solid.

Really? Wasn't that the album that he was the most sedated through?

Great band. I didn't like them at all for a while, but when I got into them I was hooked. My favorite song of theirs is Halo.

Songs of faith and devotion is a masterpiece, but besides that album, I only like a couple of songs on each of their albums. I think they where best in the 90s (when they where also most fucked up on drugs). They are still a great live band though, I had the pleasure of seeing them in my home town earlier this year.

I completely agree Fuzhi, although don't write off Violator as there are some outstanding tracks on it. I saw them this year as well and was bowled over by them.

    Re: Depeche Mode

I recently read in Q magazine that 'apart from the rolloing stones, depeche mode have been the most successful british musical export for over a decade.' Apparently they've sold over 50,000,000 records worldwide! I'm too young to remember them in the 80's and the only album i've got of theirs is 101, but i know for a fact that they're not that well remembered in the uk compared to many other contempory artists (i've never heard any of their old songs played on the radio). Is it that they've always been bigger in America than at home in the uk and if so why?! I mean, they just don't seem to be the sort of band that would appeal to all tastes - at least not 50,000,000! Having said that, i still think they're good.

I think they have done well on the continent ever since their first records. They are quite big in Denmark - this year they filled two stadion concert, which I do not think many bands are able to do.

For me DM is a band, that I get back to over and over again. They have made more great albums than most bands - my personal fav. is  Some great reward, but also their newest is great.

I went to a concert in June and last week we downloaded the show, so it spins on and on again. The live version of Personal Jesus is breathtaking.

    Hi Ashema

Great to see another Dane on this message board, I was at the same concert. Did you buy the concert from their webpage, or is it available anywhere else ?

    Thanks

Martin Gore is a brilliant songwriter. I've watched some live stuff on youtube like the 101 show and it's weird how although a lot their stuff is dark, the crowds always seem to be happy and energetic.

    Re: Depeche Mode

I bought a DM greatest hits album for my last boyfriend a few years back and I had never heard their name before. I listened to it and was instantly hooked. Needless to say, when we split, I took the album.Angel

I got my husband hooked on them as well.
