Anybody like Dragonforce?

They're crazy, got2 songs from a friend and it was insane. I instantl felt a deathmetalvibe to the drums. It was justto fastto just be power metal. Guess they invented the Extreme Power Metal.

I saw one video and I swear to God the guy must've played 75,000 notes." As for some of the other music Hammett's been digging, he said, "I like MUSE, MARS VOLTA, TRIVIUM, THE SWORD. I think WOLFMOTHER is fun. THE BLACK KEYS. And I've been listening to HANK WILLIAMS, because you've just got to. It's as heavy as ROBERT JOHNSON or BOB DYLAN." What was the last concert he saw? "Must've been our own show on YouTube. I was watching our Moscow show from 1991 and thinking, 'Damn, we were good that night. What happened?'"

OK if Hammett thinks Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan and Hank Williams is heavy, then Idon't really know what to think of him any more.

I think he means heavy as in how great they are not the sound

Your post made me chuckle a bit though 

Dragonforce is horrible. I mean as far as musical skill goes they're unbelievable. But their songwriting and vocals are incredibly shitty. And technical ability does not compensate for lousy songs.

Then again, it is power metal, so it's expected.

Why do Americans keep dissing Power Metal?

I mean it's like a new kind of heavy metal. Bands like Hammerfall and those Europeans are doing a modern version of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Their the real deal. I myself don't think it's groundbreaking, but it's real metal.

Yeah, I think extreme metalheads occupy way too much time on the internet. I mean they aren't exactly the biggest percentile of the metal community, but I still see a lot of people that are more heavily into thrash/death/black metal that are posting than people that are into heavy or power metal.

What does being American have to do with it? Also, how is power metal new? Bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian and Manowar have been around for upwards and over 20 years.

I mean Americans, nothing against Americans, are just all to eager to dish out critique when it comes to power metal IMO. they and black metalheads. It's just lame, the whole talk about wimpy bands that sing with high clean voices, and singing about "gay" things like Dungeons and Dragons(no pun intended).

And OK Helloween and Manowar are old, But modern power metal, like Hammerfall and the newer power metal bands, IMO the real power metal bands, as they are different from the first heavy metal bands, hasn't been around for that long.
