Today I celebrate your soul and the sweet sounds you made. You touched us all and forever raised the bar for rock and roll. R.I.P.

The clouds are gray in the city of the sun... Maybe it's just a coincidence, but makes this day a little bitter... :( Here's a thing I wrote for you, Layne... ~ “Half of what I say is meaningless. But I say it just to reach you...” (Julia - The Beatles)
I was unaware when our paths suddenly crossed My ears met your voice ....and my heart instantly recognized your soul I was unaware and left the door opened for you You came in and made yourself comfortable in my room We laughed and talked like old friends Even though we never met before You sang my frustrations ....and I was able to connect to your sorrows and pain I cried and still cry for you, my dear Layne Because for some strange and inexplicable reason You’re part of me now. Your voice, your music, your laughter... You were condemned for being honest ...and trying to help others through your weaknessess I admire and love you for that. You’ve helped so many people. You still do! You claimed for unconditional love. I give you mine, my heart, tears, prayers, thoughts. I hope you feel up there how you much I love and miss you, Layne. Rest in peace, Angel. ~ And here are the flowers I sent you this morning.. I hope you like them!

Thanks for existing Layne. It was short, but you did more in your short life than what plenty of people do with their long ones. Here's a song that reminds me of you
My friend you were the model
A priceless work of art
Boys would fashion their emotions
To the pattern of your heart
And I heard you wrote that record
For a girl you loved but died
I'm here sewing mine together
Just hoping you're alive
And I know you'll never come back now
To the world where people are
Because you never understood
What they loved you for
Now ghosts, they have their secrets
And they'll tell them to a few
So you could never pay attention
When they're whispering to you
There were many talents you possessed
That I wished myself to have
But the way your eyes would gloss over
Well, I never envied that
And I doubt you'll ever come back now
From wherever it is you are
Because you never understood
What we loved you for
I'm sure the TV sets will tell us
When someone reinvents the wheel
Until then I'll have a million conversations
About shit that isn't real
But I've tried to breathe in meaning
Dig deep to every gasp of air
Because I know you did the same thing
For as long as you could bear
I guess everything just circles around
To where it was before
So I hope I see you soon
In some other form (Bright Eyes - Reinvent the Wheel)

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said but I'll say it anyway. What an artistic genius. For someone I have never met, I miss the man so much. The lyrics, the timing, the voice. AIC was there when It was time, when it was needed, and the music was not in my life but it was a part of it. As I pass on to my child the music I grew up with, I have the joy of passing on one of the largest, most beautiful, artistic and raw facets of it, AIC. Thank you Layne, thank you AIC, thank you very much. You are missed by millions Layne. We will always remember you. Enjoy your much deserved peace.

R.I.P Layne, I hope you're doing fine up there. You've touched me so much in ways that others have failed to do so, and for that i thank you.
I miss you, and i'll love you always.
Love, Andrea.

He could've tuned in, tuned in But he tuned out A bad time, nothing could save him Alone in a corridor, waiting, locked out He got up outta there, ran for hundreds of miles He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree The wind rose up, set him down on his knee
A wave came crashing like a fist to the jaw Delivered him wings, 'Hey, look at me now' Arms wide open with the sea as his floor Oh, power, oh He's.. flying.....whole
He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share His key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere But first he was stripped and then he was stabbed By faceless men, well, fuckers He still stands
And he still gives his love, he just gives it away The love he receives is the love that is saved And sometimes is seen a strange spot in the sky A human being that was given to fly
Rest In Peace Layne
You opened fire...and your mark was true You opened fire...aim my smilin' skull at you

Feeling very sentimental tonight. Sometimes I think "If only......". But what's done is done and all you can do is hope it all turns out ok. Only God knows why things happen the way they do. Hopefully in the end we'll find an answer and realize that although it hurts so bad it all happened for a reason. That said: Here's a link for a video that corresponds with Layne, loss, and just life in general. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwrFcqbh7G8 It's Jerry, Pearl Aday, and Scott Ian performing "Wish You Were Here" at Dimebag's Rock Walk Induction. Jerry performed it for Dime but I think there was a little Layne in there also. Enjoy.
......when the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go, and you've just had some kind of mushroom and your mind is moving slow, go ask Alice, I think she'll know.....
