    Re: CIAO LAYNE

    Here's something I wrote today.

     "What I See Is Unreal"

You'll never know the importance of your words,
how they have touched so many,
Something as simple as a Nutshell,
You'll never know how hauntingly strong your words are.

You have touched millions of hearts,
    and will touch millions more,
You were the last remainging "voice of grunge",
the remnants of the real Seattle music scene.

You'll never know how you've touched me,
    and millions others,
    we're all a family,
    just sisters and brothers.

    Thank you, Layne,
    for all you've done,
all your battles and all your demons you've overcome,
they've shown me to never abscond my true feelings,
    my true hopes and dreams,
    my true fears.

    Because of you,
    I am never really alone.

    Loneliness,
    it never shadows me.

    Re: CIAO LAYNE

We miss you so much Layne...................

    What I am to Me

Acceptance, always just beyond my grasp

There were more stories about me today

No one will ever see me for me

Truth for them is beyond my say

Would that I could change the world at large

Always with an axe to grind

I am so much more to myself inside

I’d rather just be left behind

The rain when I die will fill a nutshell

I am no rotten apple to be tossed back

No excuses to anyone I love

To them my lights are not black

When will someone love me for what can’t be seen?

This sludge factory can get born again

I ache for what my heart covets most

A chance for my sea of sorrow to fall through the drain

A fairy tale love story is not what I’m after

What the hell have I given as a reason

For you to drag me by my heartstrings,

And tell me I’m in a mad season

You don’t know me to tell me who I am

I know where I am stronger

Brush away the dirt that covers my soul

I am lifeless dead no longer

Re: Yo we miss u Layne

Ugh...I'm beginning to really hate the month of April.  Seems that all things good pass away during the month of April.  This may sound cheeseball and all but now The Blitz, the "new rock" radio station here in Columbus has changed their format and The Blitz is no more.  What does this have to do with Layne?  Well, The Blitz was "born" in 1992, when AIC was becoming huge....this radio station introduced me to Layne Staley & Alice In Chains.  And up until this past Thursday, April 3rd, they continued to play AIC daily.  I could turn on my radio at work or in my car and hear Layne's voice at least once per hour, even though technically, AIC were no longer "new" rock.  The DJ's loved AIC and they had nothing but respect for Layne.  It was The Blitz who informed me of Layne's death in April 2002.  Now 6 years later, The Blitz has passed as well....and just as unexpectedly...there was no warning.  It's a sad day in Columbus.Sad

Re: Yo we miss u Layne

Sorry to hear that Cher. Sad After reading through some messages here, it really hit me..Layne is truely lucky to have people who love him so unconditionally..and we are lucky to have expeirenced such an amazing soul. Where ever he is..I'm sure he's smiling at us..just as we are smiling at the thought of him and his voice.

Re: Yo we miss u Layne

That's okay.  Least this time it was only a radio station...weird as that sounds.  Anyway, I too hope Layne now realizes that he's loved and missed by many.

    Re: Memories of Layne

it was funny because I have a friend that says he met layne and the band in new orleans in '94 or idk somewhere around that time I guess, and he said you guys were assholes and were about to fight him..idk if i believe him or not, because I dont see you guys as being one to pick a fight unless its nessary, and layne doesnt look like a fighter..more like a peace maker but a troublemaker.well I love all of his songs,I cant choose at all,and his voice is just soo unique even though he said he sounded like a lark...but I like his quote that says his songs dont really have a particular meaning, its whatever you..the listener perceives it as,and that the meaning of his songs changed from day to day,I really liked that because no matter what poeple are going to relate the songs to their daily problems and situations.idk  that just got me thinking........but I wish someone would put out a book about him...not just about his well-known drug problem he had but about what he liked to do besides music and his other passions like i read somewhere he liked to draw and stuff, and what his childhood was like in detail about what he did, what his hobbys were as a kid.because to me he wasnt just a junkie.and its true what he says about drugs they seem fun to try but once your addicted, even if you want to quit its nearly impossible,I was thinking about that.....like something as simple as being addicted to ciggarettes, you know what harm its doing to your body and even if you want to quit its not impossible but its hard and after awhile your just like whats the point in quitting.but he was an awesome person.I wish I knew him personally.well AIC  is still the most awesome band ever and his music touched alot of people.and for that I thank layne for his awesome music, there will never be another band like AiC when layne was in the band. AIC  forever!

Eek [eek] Re: Memories of Layne

This has probably been posted several times, prob in the Youtube thread.....none the less, it's about the memory of Layne..

    http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=h0LltnWdnrU

I played it several times on April 5....and since then as well.

To me it, Layne passing affects so many of us who never met him, but to those who must have known him on a personal level, it must have been so traumatizing...

I really feel for author..he like so many others must have really tried to help Layne..

Wish I could have met you Layne........
