    Faith No More

I have to admit it, they were my very first favorite band when I was really young..like seven, haha. I just thought that they were so cool and different from the rest of the crap that was out there. Mike patton has such a cool voice, and it's funny because you hear all of these nu-metal bands all have big influence, from Jonathon Davis of Korn, to Brandon Boyd of Incubus and Doug Robb from Hoobastank who actually kind of sound like him. There records were just killer. Angel Dust, The Real Thing and Album Of The year being my personal Favorites. I hear that soon they're releasing a 'Greatest Hits' that's 2 discs and re-releasing there live videos, that's great for the people who don't want to go out and buy there whole back catalog. Mike Bordin is such a sick drummer, and Jim Martin had some of the sickest guitar riffs, Roddy Bottom was a great bassist, there keyboardist, whose name escapes me at the moment added so much texture. Hudson was a good guitar player on band's final album as well. Such a good band. maybe one day they'll reunite as well.

    Re: Faith No More

I just saw Mike Patton here last night.  He was fronting his new project, Peeping Tom.  Imagine Patton doing trip hop.  Incredible clash of genres, and Patton sounding as good as ever.

Damn, I've been wondering what that Peeping Tom project was going to sound like. He's such a versatile person, that man IS an instrument, haha.  -matt

    Re: Faith No More

It was spectacular.  I love the album, but it was so much better in person.  he wound up having a keyboard, turntable, bass, guitar, drums, violin/vocals, beatboxing, and Patton as the lead singer.  It was an extremely powerful live act, and the first time I've seen Patton in person.  I walked away completely satisfied.

    Re: Faith No More

I apologize for shifting the focus of the thread, though.  I hate when other people do that, so I don't want to be a hypocrite.

I love all of Faith No More's work with Patton, and even a few songs with Mosley.  However, I find myself rating The Real Thing far below the other three Patton albums, just because I think his experimentation was what made them truly unique.  The other three would be close together, but it would go: 1. Angel Dust, 2. KFAD, 3. Album of the Year.  I also loved their focus on a more conventional bass as a lead instrument as they moved forward.

    Re: Faith No More

from all I heard so far, none of Patton's latter projects comes closer to FNM as to satisfy me.

one of my very own personal favourites ever...and when it comes to live shows...pff!!! Brilliant!

    Re: Faith No More

Perhaps the sledgehammer beat of "Malpractice" off of Angel Dust would be better for that.
