    Manic Street Preachers

I know their newer stuff has gone down the mellow route, but their earlier stuff is totally underated in my opinion! Check out their first album 'Generation Terrorists' (1992)..classic 90s rock with a G'N'R influence!!

Next is 'Gold Against The Soul' (1993)...a forgotten album..but pure rock..with more of a G'N'R influence..especially good is the song 'symphony of tourettes'!:)

But their ultimate album, and in my opinion again, one of the best albums ever made was 'The Holy Bible' (1994)...pure genius...like no other album I've ever listened to...the lyrics and music swallow you up..it's hauntingly brilliant, and got me through my dismal school days!!

    Aha, a Manics thread!

Erm, yes, before I discovered AIC they were my favourite band, but since they've started churning out awful mainstream stuff, I lost favour with them a fair bit. (I still wear my leopardprint coat, though. :P)

Recently I've started listening to early Manics again, so maybe I've stopped sulking with them. And yes, the Holy Bible is a fantastic album.

I saw their last gig with Richy, at a free gig in Brockwell Park at an anti-nazi rally, and their first gig without him, supporting The Stone Roses, and the difference between them was just amazing. They definitely lost their edge when Richy went for a walk............

They're a bit too righteous and political for my tastes but i think James Dean Bradfield is a great guitarist. I reckon he's been underappreciated a bit because everyone always goes on about Richey.

Yep...very true...Richey was a great lyricist but a mediocre guitarist...James is totally underappreciated, that man is a genius on guitars, I love how he plays it with his eyes closed and sways his head from side to side, he just gets totally 'lost' in his playing...Cool
