Drinks [D] AIC music FAQs (unofficial). *New posters look here too*

    Truths and untruths...

Considering there's often controversy over Alice In Chains songs, I've decided (while I was bored at work last night) to compile a few reference lists of all the songs that AIC ever recorded, and a separate list of songs that are often confused for AIC songs, but are not AIC songs. I've compiled this list entirely myself, except where noted, so feel free to contribute if I've missed anything, or if I've listed something that is incorrect. Explanations are given where necessary. We can now discuss all matters of where these songs are located here in this thread!

Also, check out this appendage to my website; it lists every official release that every AIC member has been a part of. Convenience for you, by me!!!

     http://rateyourmusic.com/list/Rifugium/all_things_alice_in_chains

There is also some release info on this site too, in case you haven't found it: http://www.aliceinchains.com/music.aspx

    - The following is an alphabetical list comprised of all songs that AIC ever recorded, including "unreleased" demos, some of which were made when the band existed under a different name. - Song titles that appear on the "Nona Tapes" from the _Alice In Chains_ (self-titled album) sessions. It is not yet been determined with certainty which songs these refer to, or if any of them are songs that were rejected/never released. It is possible that "Settling Down" is the song that was later released on Cantrell's solo album _Boggy Depot_.

    Bat Guano
    Big Big Money
    E.W.J.
    Farrow Phunk
    Piss Shivers
    Settling Down

    - Following is a list of songs that have been proven to NOT be AIC:

    Alone (by the band Downface)
    Blood Tears Little Girl (unknown)
Blue (or "Aviary Garlands") (by the band Thread)

Look (or "Look at Me") (Thread)
Smells Like Teen Spirit w/Nirvana (not real)
We've Become (or "What We Are") (Thread)

AIC has never to our knowledge collaborated and/or recorded any songs with Creed, Days of the New, Nirvana, or Pearl Jam as a band. Anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken, unless the words come directly from the mouth of any member of AIC and is confirmed by someone on this site.

Re: AIC music FAQs (unofficial). *New posters look here too*

It's looking good. Maybe the songs off of the albums should be separate from the rarities and other releases (Music Bank rarities, bootleg rarities, etc.). Also, songs with alternate titles for the bootlegs should be separated as well (Death Trap, etc.) The two Alice N' Chains demos could be separated as well since only Layne is in them. These suggestions are just to make it a bit easier to navigate.

Blood Tears Little Girl should be added to Not Alice.

Again has two more versions: Jungle Mix and Club Mix

A Little Bitter and What The Hell Have I have two versions. The Last Action Hero versions and Music Bank (remixed) versions, though the differences aren't huge.

Killing Yourself on the We Die Young EP is much different than the 1989 demo version from Music Bank.

The Treehouse Sessions/Demos haven't been released as far as I know, the track listing is found here: http://bacus.net/alice/sessions.htm

Here are the demos of album songs (supposedly there are more but are not circulating). The rest that are not on official releases are on various bootlegs.

    1. Bleed The Freak (Music Bank)

    2. I Can’t Remember

    3. Sea of Sorrow (Music Bank)

    4. Sunshine

    5. The Real Thing

    6. We Die Young (Nothing Safe: The Best of the Box)

    7. Brother

    8. Got Me Wrong

    9. Rooster (Music Bank)

    10. Junkhead (Music Bank)

    11. Dirt

    12. Them Bones

    13. Would?

Mad Season has an additional track 'Interlude' that wasn't released with the album.

Maybe Layne tribute songs could be added? Here are the ones I know of:

    Black Label Society – Layne

Cold – The Day Seattle Died

    Pearl Jam – 4/20/02

    Staind - Layne

Re: AIC music FAQs (unofficial). *New posters look here too*

Ok, looks like I can update a few of those things. I wasn't going to include the demo versions of released songs, as I figured most if not all of them exist in demo form somewhere (and probably in multiple form), but we now have the list you made. :) I also didn't include the Mad Season "Interlude" since it's only a guitar piece and I don't think Layne performed on it. But I'll throw it on there. As for separating the songs...I thought about how the master list should be arranged, and came up with the format I have now, so I think I'll just keep it like that for the time being. If it gets confusing, I'll split it up. I think I have everything from the Treehouse demos on there (except the minor spelling differences). Thanks for the suggestions; I'll be updating the list soon.

Just a tidbit I'm sure you already know, Second Coming released an album/studio version of "It's Coming After" (featuring Layne) on their album L.O.V.Evil, which I think was released in '94.

I didn't know he was actually on the studio recording. If he was, I'll add it.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7OQQ6D3R
It's just Layne singing other than some background female vocals

btw, I know we're going off-topic here, but you wouldn't happen to have Would? live with Corey Taylor would you?  I'd like to hear that

Incubus doing Would?!?!?!? I searched and couldn't find it. If anyone has a link could you let me know please? I am totally psyched to see Inc in 10 days and Alice in 25 so listening to that combo might just blow my head off my shoulders at this point! BTW, thanks for the compilations guys!

    This is a great thread!

And could someone upload Bite The Bullet?  There must be people here that have the song, so why not upload it?

I don't think this track has ever seen the light of day. If anyone has it, it's either Cantrell...or someone close to Layne who inherited his old demo tapes...if they even still exist. Will we ever hear this elusive song? Only time will tell.

Yo Rif...there's a few more tunes Jerry's performed live with other artists such as the 2005 NA World Convention...I tried to search archives here and at the jerry.com site but to no avail...he did Cult tunes with Duffy like Sanctuary...I know that's pretty vague but if someone could find the old (hella fucking long) review I did of that show...?Tongue Tied
