As I said- Is AiC really hurting for money? I'm saving pennies to buy a guitar, I don't think they need this in any way, you know? More tour dates, CD out sooner... I'd pay for that if they are somehow broke. Which is almost funny to think about, one of the greatest rock bands needing to resort to this to make money. Lindsay, any chance of giving us a number of subscriptions so far? PL is one, and I don't think anyone who doesn't use the boards will bother, so... Under 3?

What all is the subscription actually going to include. Right now, at this point, it doesn't seem like you get anything for your 30 dollars. Also, will the subscription be an annual thing or a one time deal. I hope there are plans for premium/vip ticket presales, discounts, exclusive content, member and band meet & greets... I know this is not a new concept, I have seen many bands take this direction, but I have never really been big enough of a fan to spend the money for subscribe, so I don't know exactly what to expect. I just hope it doesn't turn out like Everclear's. I remember there were many fans that got screwed on that deal. (mostly caused by the ending of a record contract, and an outside fan club management company) It seems benefits haven't actually hit the site yet. Any insight?

To start with the subscription just covers Baldy stuff including his posts, his photos and his videos. The plan is to get more video content from him this year including videos of the guys goofing around backstage (think the Roman candle video). All of that will be exclusive content available just to subscribers.

Beyond that, what would you guys want to see in a fan club? As Baldy said in the chat, all the shows for 2007 have been announced so we can't include any ticket-related items however maybe that will change if the guys head back out on the road in 2008.

But if say subscribers did have access to some kind of VIP ticket package, what would make a good package?

Discounts - so you mean discounts in the Store? Like subscribers gets 10% off all t-shirts or something like?

What about some kind of physical item like an exclusive t-shirt? And membership cards? Do people like membership cards or are they just a waste of plastic?

Subscriptions are good for one year and I would love to hear any ideas you have about how to make the subscriptions a great, fun thing to own.

you'd have to be offering a hell of alot if you want people to fork up cash ~ and (with all due respect to baldy) you'd have to offer and deliver more than just stuff from the bald one

Ha I'm just waiting for a site that's got it up already... I'm googling it after I hit post. I mean, I don't illegally download songs or that sort of stuff out of respect for the artist, but this is shit.

I always thought that band websites were sort of a promotional tool. You know, show some free live and behind the scenes footage to encourage people to get out and see the shows and buy the CDs. I have to pay to get full access now? Lets see, I've payed for all of their albums, which is roughly $100 or so dollars, I payed $45 for a long sleeve T-shirt which probably cost about $5 to manufacture, I paid $50 to see them last November in Milwaukee, I paid $75 to see them on August 28th in Chicago, and I paid another $54 to see them again on the 31st at the Rave for the acoustic show (actually, each time I bought tickets, I bought 2 of them, so double the ticket amounts). That's roughly $503 so far that I've spent being an AIC fan and now I have to pay to see the cool stuff on the site? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! I must say that this is a very "Metallica" thing to do. At least I expect this sort of thing from Metallica, but Alice? C'MON.

Who's idea was that anyway? And where does the money go? To Baldy and the band?  Not sure how many are going to sign up for that though I may be tempted to. Hopefully all Baldy's work doesn't go to waste if not many are down with having to pay for it. He did not seem too thrilled about the members having to pay for it himself.

It is to read Baldy's stuff and see his pics and video and other undetermined ploys such as contests, etc. I am hoping enough ppl will express their displeasure, including BALDY (who claimed he was not keen on the idea as well) that they will dismiss the plan.
