Can anyone verify the order of the setlist, and does anyone remember the Velvet Revolver setlist too? Thanks.

Re: Concord, CA (Sleep Train Pavillion) 9.14.07
I went to this concert by chance. I wasnt going to go since it was the day of my anniversary(11 yrs). A co-worker won them on the local radio station, and took me because I was the only other AIC fan he knew. The funny part, the radio made no mention of VR when they listed the call-in-to-win. Thanks a million to my wife for being cool with me giong, Joe G. for taking me, and B93.1 for giving away the tickets. I called my good friend Turbo from Oregon. He wanted to hear what Would sounded like now. After Rain When I Die(3rd song), I had to call him to hear the whole rest of their concert. After it was over he said he was hating himself for not seeing them in Portland. I was ready to bow at William's feet after singing that song, it was powerful! AIC crew, if you're listenting...this guy's a keeper! We need a new album so you can go on tour again! Yes, I did buy an F'ing Tshirt. The VR songs sounded like a garage band, sorry to say. I was ready to leave until they started playing STP songs, then it was worth staying. Slash's boob t-shirt was hilarious, what a nice rack! LOL! Slash can play some good guitar, but it isnt as diverse/ mixed uround like when AIC's boys jam. Dale

Re: Concord, CA (Sleep Train Pavillion) 9.14.07
Tiny: I wish they would have played longer since Velvet Revolver was 1 HOUR LATE (fucking divas) because the energy fell way off after AIC. I hope more people realize that you can carry your own as top billing soon as you guys are as great as you were years back.
Ha ha! Karma is a bitch! I missed the show and just got back into town today (San Fran), and all day long, our biggest Bay Area hard rock station, 107.7 (which gives both AIC and Velvet Revolver much airplay), had an abundance of people called in to say that AIC totally upstaged VR...not surprising to me, a die hard AIC fan, but I'm hardly objective, and honestly, I was surprised that there was such a general consensus about this. Your post just confirms it. Fucking divas indeed, those VR bastards! It won't be long until our boys are properly restored to top billing.

...I use to live in the Bay Area, and there's just a ton of
AIC/Cantrell fans there....the kind that go to every show, one right
after another......it was pretty cool, like a caravan of familiar
faces..... Plus, you always get the local celebrities who show up to watch, too.....

Hey NatureGirl! Can you tell me/do you remember where you would go, what areas and venues that that these types of artists (especially Jerry, if he were to randomly do a solo gig somewhere here)would play, etc.? Unfortunately my profession and circle of friends doesn't really lend itself to my coming into contact with AIC and Cantrell fans (I guarantee you that none of my friends or colleagues even know who Jerry Cantrell is), so I just haven't been exposed to anything since moving down here and being a real "grown up." Even if it's been awhile since you've lived here, I'd so appreciate any suggestions you may have because I'm really having severe withdrawals!. Cheers

"I made a point of getting in their faces
a couple of times. I mean what a disgrace to the fans and the
band to have those guys at the show. I told them they should get
the f**k out. I will be calling the venue to make sure that never
happens again." Your lucky you didnt get your ass kicked. I would have kicked your ass had I seen you do that. There is nothing wrong with your anti-war views, but confronting servicemen/women like this is wrong, period. My bet is if Jerry knew you were doing this he would have had you forcefully escorted off the premises.

One
time, there were about 36 of us who went from San Fran up to Chico,
over to Sacramento.....that was early Deg Trip Days.....He did a lot of
shows at Slims, the Pound (SF) & the Boardwalk (Sac).....during the
Kid Rock tour, he was downtown San Jose.......south Cal, he was at the
HOB alot (Anaheim) & the Key Club (LA)......and the Whisky a few
times..... The 2001 Deg Trip interview with Guitar One mag,
the bricks he was leaning up against is the wall of Slims, I think he's
probably been there more times than anywhere .....His very
first Deg Trip show, was there, ~ but that interview was from the
summer, after he had been there a few times already.... But back then,
Jerry lived there for a while.....he hung out with Lars & Claypool
& Bordin (sometimes they'd get up & jam on a song or two)
~ they all live there......and back in the Deg Trip days, Jerry
preferred those tiny hole in the wall bar type venues more than
anything bigger......

Thanks so much! I can certainly go to Slims, lean up against the same wall, close my eyes and picture Jerry singing Psychotic Breakup! That may just keep my withdrawals at bay...unfortunately, I think that, given the response to their current tour, the days of his small "hole in the wall" venues may be a distant memory. I'm sorry, but I can't find the original post that prompted this reply. What happened at the show? Was someone dissing service men and women?

4th post first page. The last thing I ever want to do it rip on someone here as this is a place I am growing to love but there is no way I could have actually witnessed someone doing what this guy claims to have done without forcefully putting an end to it. I understand and respect the bands politics, but I highly doubt they run so deep as to wish hate on service members.

.....yeah, ManoloGirl, the days of small club settings is pretty much
over, unless the band insists on em......just like the days of
schleppin their own equipment; signing autographs until everyone left,
& hangin in the alley talking to Cantrell, are pretty much over
too.....

Re: Concord, CA (Sleep Train Pavillion) 9.14.07
Hadn't been to Concord Pavilon in many years. Dreaded the trip but it was worth it. Absolutely knew it would be. Didn't catch much of Sparta while consuming a couple $11 Coronas. Alice broke out while my lady was waiting for a Captain and Coke and I bailed on her. Scored my tix from the site and they were cool enough. The group was VERY CLEAN. Fast and smooth. I knew I wasn't going to stay long for VR and I jammed after 2 songs. That hat by the lead singer actually took my attention away from Slash's shirt. Alice was awesome and crowd was supportive- although many rightfully wondered just who was the "headliner." As far as Slims goes- I was there a few years ago when Jerry dove off the stage- TWICE- with the Vamps. Touched his ankle BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The show last year at the Warfield was mind blowing. Hope the small-venue shows don't go- especially at the expense of holes like the Pavilion.

Got it, thanks (the original post was so long that I didn't get that far....I guess I would understand the hostility if the recruiters were getting in everyone else's face, being aggressive, etc. (as opposed to simply having a table set up), but I seriously doubt that was the case, and I have to agree that it is incredibly disrepectful to react that way. I am the daughter of a retired Marine Colonel, and I can honestly say that he isn't, nor ever was "pro war" I am a Northern California pro bono immigration lawyer (and therefore quite liberal in my politics), but whatever my feelings about the war, the only faces I've ever envisioned getting into have been George Bush's, *** Cheney's, or Donald Rumsfeld's...I can't believe how proud this guy was of his actions. I can only hope that my boy JC would have personally thrown that guy's self righteous ass out had he known what was taking place. Anyway, peace all....

Re: Concord, CA (Sleep Train Pavillion) 9.14.07
Military recruiters are the worst type of leaches. They lie
and deceive to get young people to throw their lives away. I do
not disrespect military personel but this type of thing has no place at
a show which featured a prominant anti-war message. It would be
like Bacardi advertising at a AA meeting. Back in the 90's
political action was tied to the music and the scene was alive.
Now musicians are afraid to voice their opinions and the crap they put
out reflects their lack of conviction or artistic freedom. I was
just commenting on the fact that I really appreciate the few bands that
still have some balls. As far as JC kicking my ass
I highly doubt it. All I actually did was go up to the recruiters
and tell them that they were in the wrong place. I did not
threaten or verbally abuse them. In fact I think I was quite
polite. Perhaps the statement "got in their faces" was a bit
misleading. I just spoke to them. I do not know Jerry or
the other guys in the band but I doubt they would react at all to this
(other perhaps than to buy me a beer for being true to myself). Your
threats of putting a physical end to my peaceful discussion are sad and
only show how small minded people always have to resort to violence.
9/11 truth movement- Unleash the dogs of Peace.
