Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
Exact same setlist as the Atlanta show two nights previous, but great nonetheless. Very rowdy crowd screaming for Jerry which he acknowledged several times and said "This is why we do this" or something to that effect. He was a little chattier than the other two times I have seen them and really seemed appreciative of the adoration. Here is the setlist although probably not in order since it is from memory: Again Grind We Die Young Rain When I Die Them Bones Sludge Factory Nutshell No Excuses Angry Chair Man In the Box Would? Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
I'll be back with a more extensive description of the best hour of concert viewing I'll ever have. For now, if you'd like to check out some pics, I have an album on my MySpace page:
Minus having to deck an unruly mosh guy after getting pulled into it when I didn't want to, it was fucking awesome. I'm with you on the encore, but I doubt anything would've brought it on since they were the headlining act. If I could've had an extra three song set, I think pulling "I Know Somethin' " outta nowhere, "Got Me Wrong"and the "Down in a Hole" would've been my picks. However, "Hate to Feel" and "Fear the Voices" (never released as a single, that I know of) are a toss up for my favorite obscure AIC songs, and if they'd played either of those, I couldn't have handled it. heh heh
Did anyone stick around for VR? I made my way back and then stood around for a couple songs, but was so drenched in sweat and beer and pretty tired, I decided to leave. It was like the air went out of the place. I think VR made a mistake, and it's paying for it with each show.
Rock On.

I thought the show was awesome! This was my first time to see Alice in Chains, although I've been a fan for years. The sound is surely different but I think they were great. I did stay around for Velvet Revolver...well, I went back for them, I missed the first song or two I think. Anyway, they were really good. It had been almost 10 years since I seen Scott with STP, and he was much better, in my opinion.

NatureGirl...That name sounds familiar...I believe I remember from an old AIC forum I used to lurk in a few years ago...AliceinChains.net, maybe???...Anyway, it sticks out. What is your relation to the band. If I remember correctly you're related to....Jerry possibly?....If that's the case, please tell him the next time you see him that Brent Howell from Alabama says he needs to rock his ass off as long as he can! heh heh Those guys are my band, as I've made perfectly clear, and now that I've been able to see them more than once, I'll hope to see them many times more...next time, they might as well head their own tour since they basically stole the show this time anyway...
Rebel, when did you see Scott with STP? I saw him at X-fest in B'ham, AL, back before Verizon screwed it up and it was still Oak Mountain Amphitheatre (God rest its soul) in 2000 while pushing their album No. 4, and it was arguably now the second best concert I've ever been to. I thought the current Weiland is at least a couple steps down from what he was then, in my very humble opinion of course. Also, the songwriting for STP was slightly ahead of GNR (grossly overrated, in my opinion) and miles above VR. VR is popular for playing both STP and GNR songs throughout the concert...Would you mind sharing which ones they could've played Friday? Thanks, hon!

Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
Oh yeah, did everybody else get a kick out of it when Jerry said "Oooh, sounds like somebody faaah-ted" or something to that effect which William broke into the little blues song during songs? I thought it was awesome, and appreciated Will's effort throughout it all...Seriously, people need to get off his ass. He's not Layne, but no one will be, and he's doing a damn fine job in his own, autonomous right.
I personally took pride in the fact that the band seemed to hear and respond to the fact that I screamed out "Jerry's the shit!" at JUST the right time between songs and then people around me yelled out. AWESOME!
I could literally go to an AIC concert four nights a week (every other night to allow recovery time) for the rest of my life and be just fine. If y'all need any more stage help, Baldy, just let a guy know!

Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
Wow, the show was incredible. That's all I can say. Saying more just wouldn't do them justice. I have some pictures on photobucket if anyone's interested: http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc214/DrellaNomi/Alice%20in%20Chains/?start=all I have a shitty camera, so the photos aren't too great. I stuck around for Velvet Revolver, but I wasn't all that into them, honestly. I saw Scott with STP a number of years ago, and he seemed to be much more into his performance then. They sounded good, though. haha, and I remember you yelling, "Jerry's the shit!" I can't wait to see these guys again; one of the best shows I've ever gone to... if not THE best.

Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
For 16 years I had waited to see Alice in Chains. Last Friday evening in Mobile meant a whole heck of a lot more to me than the standard concert experience. Getting to hear "We Die Young" and "Them Bones" back to back overwhelmed me to where I was a standing wreck. After the fifth song I was truly useless and was struggling to take in what was happening before me. This was beyond a dream, a wish, and a prayer.
William's performance was simply amazing. Until seeing them live, I had avoided hearing/watching anything recorded with him to keep my opinion open. I had never heard him sing a single note previous to them ripping into "Again" and let me tell you, I had goosebumps during that song they were so on it. Filling Layne's spot is something people will probably debate until cows fly backwards, but for me as a fan of the band since "Facelift" was still NEW, I couldn't be happier with their choice of frontman. That I can truly say "Alice is back" after a period of mourning their absence is proof that in this life, anything can happen. Guys, if you read these pages, thank you so much for rising above and bringing your music back to the stage. You have made a dream I've had for nearly half my life come true.

Yep, that's the same me ~
you must have a new name here, tho.....My relation is simply a big
mouth ~ strictly pr stuff......Use to be for Jerry's solo
career, then he handed me over to William's band COMES WITH THE FALL
& they won't let go of me ....but that's a
message I'd be proud to pass on, anyway They hadn't planned
on touring this year, so everyone can thank VR for that much.....altho
I doubt that VR expected to have the show stolen from them every nite
......probably be the last time VR offers that ~
that'll teach them.... I bet next year everyone's wishes for a headlining tour, gets answered As
for effort, William gets onstage every nite & comes out with 200% ~
why? because he respects ALL the bandmembers & the legacy AIC
has......plus, he loves audiences

Re: Mobile, AL (Bayfest) 10.5.07
I'm currently in corporate direct marketing (junk mail) and hate it like hell. I'm looking to make a switch soon, and will most likely get away from marketing in general. Still, how have you enjoyed your career in music marketing/PR? How is different for the better or worse, if you don't mind me asking NG. Does your love for music help this? Thanks for any advice/direction!
