Don't take this wrong, but I laughed out
loud when I read the post up-thread about dressing appropriately. I thought my Alice concert shirt was completely appropriate, and very few people looked down their noses at it –
unexpected, since this wasn't my first symphony. It's how you treat
people, not what you wear, kids. :)
Hey
there, "Writer," I'm the one who posted about dressing appropriately,
and you were absolutely right to have laughed at that pretentious, dumb
ass comment! I am a native Seattleite who has apparently been
away for far too long. I absolutely LOVED how eclectic and
diverse the crowd was, and how accepting everyone was of everyone else,
and I definitely sold my hometown short in that regard. I haven't
had so much fun in a long, long time, both because of the performances
and because of the unique, collective energy that resulted from such a
diverse crowd. Seriously, how lucky were we to get to hear the
boys cover the greatest Zep song in history, backed by such an
extraordinary group of musicians and vocalists? It's was maybe
the greatest 10 minutes of my life!
Hiya MG, I'm
glad you weren't offended by what I said. It was a blast, wasn't it?
Did you end up going to the dinner? I'd love to hear about that -- if
anyone went.
Peace ~WiC
Hey WIC, Offended? I'm a lawyer! Barely a day goes by where someone doesn't say something horrifically offensive to me (LOL!) Seriously, the night was such a blast...I can't stop thinking about it. It also happened to be my first time seeing Ann and Nancy Wilson (I was too young/my parents were too strict for me to see concerts in the 70s and most of the 80s); also, I had no idea how unbelievably cool Matt Messina was...what a character, huh? Sort of hot in that nerdy way that I like, too. Anyway, I couldn't go to the dinner b/c I couldn't fly out until about 2:00 from San Fran, but I did participate (got a winery down here to donate) in the silent auction and was there early to check things out, and that was really fun and energetic. Anyway, I am going to contact the guild members and see whether there are any plans to release this on DVD. Absent that, I'm going to have to track down a bootlegged copy Cheers

PL -- if ever a performance commands such a reaction, it was that one. It's Monday night now and I still get the chills when I close my eyes and think back a few days to Kashmir. Although I knew, ahead of time, that each performance would be short, I was still a little disappointed. However, once they broke out w/Kashmir, my disappointment was gone completely -- no one anywhere on earth could have given a performance that followed what they did, and this I say as a die hard, Zep/Rob Plant disciple! I wish that the YouTube video could begin to do it justice, but nothing could really compare to being in that venue, with all that energy around...God, it was orgasmic!

A
lawyer, eh? Sorry about that. ;) Do you at least get to tell the rude
people where to get off? I'm in sales, so when people yell at me I get
cavities from being so sweet. Sometimes it's hard, but usually not.
I'm right there with ya about Matt -- yummy! I tried to get him
to sign my poster after I had to leave the meet & greet room, but
he was 4-deep in admirers and I couldn't bring myself to elbow-in. I
did get to talk w/Taylor for a second (what a cutie). He was really
excited that his song went over so well. I missed seeing Heart too,
even when they toured in this century, but next time I won't. Ann's
voice blew me away! Dig your program out! For a minimum donation of
$25, you can get a DVD of the performance -- after they finish editing
it, that is. I'm sure my co-workers will be happy when I can come down
from this weekend & that won't help! *lol*

WIC -- I did see that DVD option on the
back of the program, but I wasn't sure about whether it was referring
to that night's show, or whether it was some compilation/sample DVD
from various performances. I'm glad you read it that way -- you
are probably right, thanks! Sorry you didn't get to talk to Matt; he
really does seem like a authentically great (and based on where he went
to high school, we grew up pretty close together -- what a small
world!), and Taylor made me cry, which messed up my makeup , Anyway,
I agree w/you about Ann & Nancy -- I will not miss another
opportunity to see them. I can't believe how well Ann's voice has
stood the test of time...can you? I am a Robert Plant worshipper and
disciple, but I can't say that his voice has withstood as well as
Ann's. She was magnificent (even my Dutch friend who was with me, and
who mainly listens to that tecno pop Eurotrash music was blown away by
Ann). But more than anything, I'm still on an orgasmic high from
Kashmir. I had never seen William sing (p.s. -- I happen to love that
Jimmy Hendrix thing he has going on), and I confess that I was very
skeptical, and if anyone had told me in advance that they would be
covering Kashmir (let's face it, it takes some big, brass ones to cover
Zep, much less Zep's Kashmir), I would have been in painful
anticipation of a botch job. Instead I was blown out of the water and
I'm still floating in the air (I'm pretty sure my co-workers are loving it...it's very uncharacteristic of me...) p.s.
We west coast lawyers are too nice (we get eaten for lunch by our NYC
and DC counterparts), so, no, I don't get to tell the rude people to
fuck off; and believe me, I want to, at least five times a day! It so
sucks....I wish I had been born an East Coast bitch! I applaud you --
I'm definitely not nice enough to be in sales... Cheers
