Sorry for all my posts to the Suggestion Box, I really don't hate the site or anything I'm totally content with it and all the new stuff you guys come up with , but I just got the greatest idea for the next contest- The AiC Poker League! For all of us who don't watch football and are awesome at cards. This site could host Friday or Saturday night tournaments (in EST time, preferably ) for a few months with anyone who logs on, like have a few 'tables' going and everyone starting at x amount of money, then after that time the highest 4 or 5 could play the band. Or we could do post count= money, to reward everyone who hangs out on the boards for, uh, being there. Being better fans than everyone else . I think the trivia thing wouldn't go as well, since I'd hate to lose to some noob because they knew more about the band, and then the final game is a slaughter and no contest for the guys. Besides, it's a fun game, so I'm sure I'm not the only one who would look forward to owning my fellow boardies each week. The band wouldn't have to be involved, but I'd personally love to say that I kicked Alice in Chains' ass at poker and cleaned house... That's a challenge There could be a signed guitar/bass up for a prize again (since I WILL win one eventually), your winnings in swag bucks, or something like that. Or getting mentioned in the liner notes of the new album, I couldn't ask for more than that, but I'm sure that one's a no. Just being able to play the band for bragging rights, that'd actually be good enough for me, as long as I got to talk smack... And I'm not really sure if this part would work, but it's worth a shot- there shouldn't be an age limit, or it should be 13 or less. Because even though my dad's a fan (that's not my out for an alias, he really is) and *slightly* better at poker, I'd like to do it myself... I mean, there's a few things that would need to be worked out, like the time zone (work/school, dial up, etc), but times could be moved around each time and totals per night averaged, starting everyone at x each tournament night, so someone who got on once could still win if they cleaned house and someone who wins minimally but gets on every time might not. Which goes back to the player ability/challenge idea, since playing noobs is boring . It's probably the better idea, going back through it. And I'm sure the tech fairies would be calling me all sorts of names over setting up the tables, and the different variations of the game if we do dealer's choice, like 5 and 7 card draw, new leaf, blackjack, criss-cross, night baseball (and it's 4 buys a card, 2 you're dead, 3s and 9s wild, pair of 7s splits pot fun-ness ), etc, and if we can do side bets on highest spade showing, better hand, and that sort of thing... But, obviously, it's up to you guys if it happens or not and how. I just thought of it and figured it'd kick ass, since AiC does like poker along with football... Even if it doesn't become a contest, I'm sure no one (besides the previously mentioned tech fairies) would mind if AiC Poker became a new section on the site.

SoFarAway: Brainstorming here...maybe a mod or volunteer could be the 'dealer' and start a thread for each type of card game played. At predetermined times 'dealer' could pm cards that would normally be face down and show pics (or describe) cards that are showing. Boardies could pm back to the 'dealer' which cards will be discarded, etc. Untimely response would be treated as a fold at dealer's discretion. Maybe play for bragging rights, names on a tournament board, or discounts on AIC products. Bet there's software available for this type of thing too.
I think the pm thing would take a while, way too long, and timed folding would be my death, along with several other boardies... I agree with the above, it'd probably be a lot easier for it to be through an outside site... I mean, I'm sure I could come up with more specific details, but I don't know what all is possible. I gave up on learning programming a few months ago, or I'd flat out volunteer.
