    Pink Floyd

My theory is PF invented the sound of early 90's back in 60's with songs like Ibiza Bar, something right between metal and pure rock. My fav PF song is sheep from the "Animals" album, inspired on the novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell.
"What do you mean, I'm a wild front man! I'm jumping all over, I do the dance moves..."

    Re: Pink Floyd

I agree with you partly. They were an influence on many bands, but most of them being prog metal/rock bands.

Anyway, my favorite song is Shine On You Crazy Diamond. (RIP Syd Barrett. :()

"The Dark Side of the Moon" will forever be one of the most epic albums to date, with amazing lyrics, amazing songwriting and an amazing atmosphere. Wish I could've caught them live once or so, I own the new "Pulse" DvD and it get's me all ...

Comfortably Numb was the song my brother and his wife danced to at their wedding.  The only thing they agreed on.

    Re: Pink Floyd

My favourite probably is Hey You or Any Colour You Like, that's amzing weird little instrumental.. I think Pink Floyd were first with such depressive, deep feeling of the dark lyrics. Maybe I'm wrong, but they're really good at this, and that sound of music makes you feel like you're in the song, surounded by mysterious shadows or seeking small light far away...

    Re: Pink Floyd

Floyd was the first band I listened to when uhh... "experimenting".

Definitely they influenced alot of bands, and still do. I have to admit though, the songs from Dark Side and The Wall have been overplayed (or is that just my fault for listening to it 1000 times?)   Animals and Wish You Were Here still sound fresh, and there are some earlier gems too that still rock me.

    Re: Pink Floyd

How is this thread dead? Aren't they in everybody's top ten? Top five for me, I'd say. I'm going through another Pink Floyd time right now. Can't listen to the same band for too long, but the Floyd has so much material like no other artists.

So has anyone heard about Think Floyd, that cover band? I'm considering seeing them. They're actually coming to Des Moines!
