Noticed there was a lack of love for the guys on these threads, so I figured I'd start the lovin' off...who's with me?! - Laura

I'll bet - I'm jealous!! Looking at them, you'd never expect the sound to come from them...good to see they're still around, rocking as hard as ever. "Snakes and Arrows" is good stuff! - Laura

Rush could possibly be the best band ever. Here's why: - They're awesome - They've been around for 40 years - They've consistently been putting out albums during those 40 years - They've consistently been touring during those 40 years - They're awesome - They've only had one lineup change (Neil Peart took over after the first album) - Grace Under Pressure - Hemispheres - Permanent Waves - Moving Pictures - The guitar solo in Kid Gloves - Also, they're awesome - Everything else
There's other reasons, but I'm too tired to think of them now. And by the way, Geddy has changed. He actually looks younger now than he did 25 years ago somehow.

I hold Geddy in the highest bracket of human beingness. He actually sounds even better now than he has in years. He has been working with a new vocal coach and doesn't speak when they are touring to preserve his voice. I have never heard one of them miss a single note in concert. And, I have never been to ANY show that had more air drumming, air guitar, screaming along to the lyrics--everywhere you look ppl are just drenched in pure emotion. . . . Every show at least one song makes tears stream down my cheeks. Red Sector A is just a given. Last year I was surprised that it was actually a new song--"The Way the Wind Blows". Think I will listen to Snakes and Arrows now. . . .

Yet another music-related goal to tack on to the "Bucket List" - see these guys live. - Laura

Rifugium: Seriously. Name one other band that has been together for 40 years, been active that whole time in the studio and on the road, never broken up or gone on hiatus, and never changed their lineup (excluding that first album which doesn't count :P ). Not to mention a music catalog that at least averages out to be extremely mighty.
Name one other band that even comes close to meeting all those credentials. The only one I can name without thinking too hard is King's X; just change the "40 years" to "23 years."
Stones?

No. Stones had lineup changes. Plus, didn't they have a hiatus in the late 90's? Also, their albums don't average out as good. Plus, Rush never did a song with a rapper. Oh wait, yeah they did. But Rush's song was better.

Yeah, well... Rush is just better all-around. I never liked the Stones. I didn't realize they'd had a lineup change (shows how much I know about them; not a fan) so I thought they'd compare....
