    Dixie Chicks

I realize that this is more than a little to the left of rock music but what is the feeling out there for these three country hotties?

My friend and i had an idea when we were younger to start up a country band (cause ANYONE can write whiny country music), make a million dollars and when we got up on stage to accept our country music album of the year, we were gonna give a collective middle finger to the country music industry and renounce all things hillbilly and start our "real" careers in rock music.

Now it seems to me that the hillbilly community has turned against these gurls for standing up for what they believe in.  I grew up in a redneck town and have nothing but disdain for all things country.  I grew up in the ignorance and arrogance of the "cowboy mentality" and that is exactly what i see in the case of the Dixie Chicks.

I for one support the highest grossing female band of all time.  In a recent interview they were quoted as saying it may be time to abandon country music and flow towards rock music where the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder, Neil Young and others have publically shown support for the Chicks.

Move into the light, Dixie Chicks, i'm here waiting.  Who's with me?

I like my politics in the paper not on my stereo,

I'll never pay for an album that tells me how I should think or that is made by anyone ignorant enough to think they've truly made a statement by screaming 'Impeach Bush' on stage and I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don't need him around anyhow...

there's a man up on that ledge...
    he's only cleaning windows
what a shame, who's to blame for the pain we're missing
I'm gonna lean back on my wall and pray for him to fall

    Re: Dixie Chicks

    Just curious here but is your hatred for the Dixie Chick fueled by;

    a) Hatred of country music,

b)Their opposition to a war you support,

c)Their outrage to a President you support, or,

d)Some of all of the above.

Just noticing that all the replies have come from Americans.  Interesting.

I despise the dixi chicks, I was with this girl for almost a year and they were her favorite band, she played them over and over again.... all the time, same c.d. or not, didn't matter, it sucked my will to live.

They have been forever tainted in my ears, the sound of thier music makes me want to choke somebody.

    1. Most country music is garbage. Who wants to hear songs abput pickup trucks and barns, and stuff like that.

    2. I despise them because they use their fame as a way to influence everyones elses opinions. They dont support the war or the president, and I dont really care that they dont. What I do care about is someone trying to preach to me what to believe/think/feel. State your opinion and leave it at that, and your fine. State your opinion and try to change mine, and shame on you.

    Re: Dixie Chicks

I don't particularly care for country music, so I'm not a fan of the Dixie Chicks, but I don't have a problem with their speaking their mind about politics. The last I checked, we lived in a free country, though over the years, our freedoms have been eroding. Now, it's un-pc to speak your mind if you have one shred of disagreement with the way things are run in the U.S...but I digress.

my reason why i hate them is very simple. they are females. im sorry but when it comes to rock music, girls do not mix well at all. sorry if anyone takes that bad, but i have never heard a good rock band with a girl singer. even heart. and that girl guitarist in smashing pumpkins is pushin it. but i like that band.

ok seriously, you're an idiot, and this is close to one of the stupidest posts i've ever read, but that line about the smashing pumpkins is hilarious.

Truthfully there arnt very many good girl lead bans or anything of that sort. There's Heart, Garbage, Joan Jett, and Evanescence? Oh and Blondie. Dare I mention the infamoue Courtney Love? (that bitch!) Girls in rock are somewhat of a rarity. Rarily are they worth mentioning. Too bad.
