    Also, Pork Soda.

Most notably, "Bob," and "Nature Boy."

If I'm into Primus, would it follow that I would enjoy the Frog Brigade and his other solo output?  I've thought about picking them up, but I've held back a bit until I got a second opinion.

I love primus. Big Brown Beaver was the first song I ever heard on tape years ago and then I realised who they were a few years later and got right into them. Jerry was a racecar drive is a good song.

Les is just amazing on the bass if you ask me

I saw the Frog Brigade live and promptly picked up Purple Onion, the album that was new at the time. I love it.

Last night, I listened to Pork Soda for the first time in a while, and I had to listen to the song DMV twice. That's a damn fine song..

I love the rhythm in DMV, plus the line, "If I had my druthers, I'd screw a chimpanzee."

    Re: Primus

oh man, primus.... just and overall kick ass band. i used to be obsessed with them when i was 14 and 15. i have all of their albums, the halicino genenctics tour dvd and the other dvd. pork soda is just plain crazy, frizzle fry is a classic. les claypools bass playing in primus were incredible, his newer efforts are good but to me, there uncomparible to primus. oh and tim alexander is a SICK drummer, one of the best, or the best from the 90's.

oh!!! i just remembered. anyone who has the "animals should not try to act like people" dvd, on the main menu click on the attic, then click on the one vid that is just random clips. AIC is in it! they show them playing rooster for lollapalooza, then a guy in a rooster costume goes on stage, that is les claypool. im pretty sure les and jerry are buds. claypool appears on boggy depot after all.

Yeah, that Animals DVD is great. In fact, it was Boggy Depot that led me to Les. I didn't know who he was at the time and when I saw his name on the liner notes, I got curious. I'm glad I did :)

Did you know Larry LaLonde was in proto-death metal band Possessed?

I did get a vid of them at Woodstock 94 or 99. Les Claypool was playing Master Of Puppets. ALL SLAP BASS. I couldn't believe my eyes.

    To add to your story....

Les learned everything Metallica in a single week prior to auditioning for them after Cliff died.

The guys in Metallica were blown away by his playing but thought he was "too talented" to play metal.

As for Possessed....They were fuggin' badass.

....and if you ever meet Les, don't try to shake his hand. He hates shaking hands.  Offer him a "potato" and bump fists with him.

The best show I EVER saw was Primus in 1993 (ish) is Eugene Oregon at the Hilton Hotel Ballroom.

1000 barefoot hippies all frying on acid or 'shroom's or whatever.

Primus played a 2 plus hour medley of everything from their own stuff mixed with Metallica, Ministry, you name it.  It was beyond sick.

Those that only know the Pork Soda stuff HAVE GOT to go back to the beginning with "Frizzle Fry" and "...Seas of Cheese."

    BOTH are masterpieces.

Claypools lyrics have never gotten the respect they deserve.  One of my favorite lines is from "Mr. Knowitall" where Claypool says...

    They call me Mr. Knowitall
    I am so eloquent.
    Perfection is my middle name
    And whatever rhymes with eloquent

    That's shit is brilliant!

"Too many Puppy's" was decades ahead of everyone else. The song is about the fighting in middle east and a play on words of the term "dogs of war."

"Southbound Pachyderm" is about the Republican Party (Elephant)  fooling the people in the South into switching over to their side.

    How about this one.....

The air was thick with cat calls (no pun intended),
But not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered up into the heart of the alley.
    She knew what she wanted.
She was looking for that stud bull,
    that he cat.

    And that was me.
Tommy the Cat is my name!
    and I say unto thee...

Say baby do you wanna lay down by me......
