    FAQs

    For a more extensive FAQ list, please visit the "Help" page.

    Below is a short list of VFAQ (Very Frequently Asked Questions).

    It's impossible for the store to sell out of tickets in less than 30/60 seconds/5 minutes. This presale is a scam!

    No, the presale isn't a scam, you're just not alone in your love of AiC.

    Our presales sell only a small quantity of tickets, usually around 10 per cent. This is because most venues have contracts with ticketing agencies like Ticketmaster that only allow groups like AliceInChains.com to sell a certain small percentage of tickets.

    So say at 10am we have 300 tickets going on sale. And 500 people have logged into the Store at 9:59am in hopes of buying those tickets. And those 500 people want to buy an average of three tickets. At 10am, those 500 people all submit their orders and the result is that all the tickets are instantly reserved.

    Please note that I said that all tickets were instantly reserved. This does not mean that the show sold out instantly. These are two very different things. The AliceInChains.com Store works on a reservation system. Tickets are reserved and then the purchaser has ten minutes to finish the check out process. If the purchaser does not check out during this time, leaves the Store, suffers a computer crash, etc. the purchaser will lose those tickets. This means that even though all the tickets might initially be reserved, keep trying! It's very common for a few of those reserved tickets to be tossed back on sale.

    So instead of complaining on the board or sending out an email asking how it's possible for a show to sell-out so quickly, keep trying to buy tickets until the homepage, the board or the actual ticket page says that a show has sold out.

    Can we talk about bootlegs on here?

    Yes you can. We don't have a bootleg forum right now but that might change in the future. For now, try to keep it to one thread per bootleg.

    How do I access my profile?

    When you are logged in, your login name should appear in the upper right-hand corner. Click on it and it will take you to your profile page.

    How do I set my avatar?

    Go into your profile and click on the tab marked "Avatar." The AliceInChains.com Discussion Boards do NOT come with preloaded avatars. You will need to use an image that is saved to your computer. To add this image, click on the "Browse" button and locate the image you want to use as your avatar. Then click on "Update" and "Save Changes." It will take a few minutes for your avatar to appear.

    Be sure to click off "Yes" beside "Enable Avatar." If you don't do this, people won't be able to see your avatar.

    How do I add a signature?

    Go to your profile. You will see a tab called "Signature and Bio." In there is a box where you can enter your signature.

    How do I post a picture?

    The first step to posting a picture is to get the URL address of the picture you want to post. If the picture is already on the Internet, locate it and then click on it using the right mouse button. Then click on "Properties." This will bring up a box. Find the "Address" line. If this line is a URL address and contains the word "images" or "photos" or something similar, cut and paste it.

    If the picture you want to post is not on the Internet, you need to create a URL address for it by posting on a site like Photobucket [http://www.photobucket.com/].

    Once you have the URL address, start a new post and then click on the button that has an image of a tree on it. A little box will pop up. Fill in at minimum the "Image URL" line. You can fill in the other fields if you want. Click "Insert" and you're done!

    Why do I see HTML coding around my picture?

    Inserting images into posts with around the URLs will mess it up a bit, doing so in most occasions you'll end up see something like this: " width="28" just after your picture - which you don't want. These tags are interpreted by the system as HTML image tags themselves, leaving image tags within image tags. So don't use 'em!

    CORRECT FORMAT:
    <img height="30" src="http://LocationOfTheImage.jpg" width="28" />

    INCORRECT FORMAT:
    <img height="30" src="[IMG]http://LocationOfTheImage.jpg[/IMG]" width="28" />

    Sometimes there is a delay between when I post a message and when it shows up on the Board. Why is that?

    The reason that is happening is because your computer is caching the old version of the Board. If you refresh, your page should instantly become up-to-date.

    Why Was I/My Friend Banned?

    Individuals are banned because that person broke one of the rules. If you (or a friend) has been banned,

    You (or your friend) was banned because you (or your friend) broke one of the rules. Please do NOT ask for more specific details by posting a message on the Board. Any such messages will be deleted. Instead, please either PM one of the mods or admins or send an email to help@aliceinchains.com.

    And once banned, always banned. Anyone who has been banned is NOT welcomed back on the Board and any new IDs they create will also be banned. If you suspect that a banned person has returned to the Board, please alert the mods.
