I think it's kinda cheesy to know the birthdays of members who probably don't even post anymore.

Not like we're going to send them presents, or pleasantries of any sort really.

There's no way of selecting whose birthdays we show (though members can choose not to have their birthdays displayed by going into their profiles). It's an all or nothing type of thing. No one expects you or anyone else to send cards or even acknowledge that people are celebrating their birthdays. It's just a fun, harmless feature and if one day you happen to recognize one of the people who is celebrating his or her birthday, you are free to wish that person happy birthday but there's no need to. I think it's a neat idea especially for me.... I can never remember people's birthday ....

Did they take this feature off recently?

Yes, we took it off because we discovered that the birthday feature was causing the board to run a little slow. However, if people want it back I can ask for it to be added back onto the site.

 

my vote ~ if the board runs faster w/o the bdays then leave them off

besides, my bday has come and gone this year and i've already received presents from all the boardies
