What a band. I've only gotten into them properly over the last few months but I've never looked back.

    RIP Dimebag

Good band. I'm surprised a Pantera thread didn't show up sooner. I prefer I prefer Vulgar Display Of Power and far Beyond Driven. The Great Southern Trendkill was alright. That whole band was sick. Phil was a damn good vocalist, and when he wanted could really sing(outro of cemetary gates anyone?), Dime could rip and come up with some really cool riffs, Rex was a sick bass player, Vinny held shit down and made some really fun drum parts.

    Loved em!

Seen them three times. Moshed pitted in Indy...got a black eye...no sheet!

Worth every penny spent to see them. ITA about GSTK...not my fave. I liked their earlier work too.

    Re: Pantera

Floods has one of the best fuckin' solos Dime has ever done.

I love PanterA. Hands down my favorite band ever. If you ask me they are the best metal band ever. Each member was equally important to that band. Dime was hands down one of the most soulful, insane guitarist to ever live. Phils vocals and lyrics were inovative, new and his range was amazing (at first). Vinnie is the drummer who doesn't have to play like a madman to be a genius although he could and would alot of times. His drumming is unexplainable (actually I just don't have the vocab to do so. LOL). And Rex pulled the band together with his bottom end bass lines. Bringing Dimes often improvised playing in with Vinnies unique style of drumming.

    The perfect band.

    Re: Pantera

wen i first saw my sisters old pantera cd in her room awhile back i sed "ehh pantera..." then i listened to it and gradually started liking them more. theyre definately a kick ass band. and to the person who sed panteras drummer doesnt have to be a madman to be a genious, same goes for sean kinney. he is a very simple drummer for the band that he is in. but in many songs his drumming just totally kiicks ass.  imo he is the most unique drummer for any rock band period. listen to shame in you, no excuses, head creeps. sorry to change the subject by the way

    Re: Pantera

I wouldn't say Sean Kinney is a simple drummer. I mean he compensates a lot for not having a double bass by doing those crazy drum lines and killer fills.

Pantera is a really cool band. They really did their thing and the whole groove  metal thing really innovated music. I think Cowboys fromhell is still one of the most amazing song ever. It's just so different from so much metal out there.

    Re: Pantera

I was only starting to get into Pantera when Dime was killed.  RIP

One of the greatest metal bands of all time easily.  I've gotten all of their CD's now but I can't say which is my favorite they're all special in their own way.

BTW anyone else see the behind the music.  That was both one of the best BHTM and the hardest to watch at the same time.
