Damn good show.  It was so good to see AIC again.  I was impressed they got to play as long as they did, I felt they would have a shorter time based on the set lists I had seen, but I was quite happy.  We showed up with section 101 row C tix, and turns out that they took out rows A and B for the guard rail, so we we right up front the whole time and it was amazing.  I didn't notice Jerry being pissed the whole time, but during Rooster when his Wah pedal crapped out and his guitar tech tried to change it mid song (which didn't work) he ended up kicking the replacement off to the side in frustration.  All in all AIC was amazing, as was Velvet Revolver (which I wasnt expecting too much from).  Over all probably the best concert I have ever been to, and thats saying something.

Good thing I don't have to talk to get this out... my throat is thrashed!

Hmmmm how to sum up the show...

    Awesome!

    Spectacular!

Better than I even imagined it would be! (only disapointment would be the fact that AIC wasn't headlining instead of VR)

I had my doubts about William at first before I heard him... But I can honestly say, that while he is not Layne... he did an amazing job! Blew my mind how good the harmonies sounded between Jerry and him! While I miss Layne... I believe William is a great fit for the band. I hope they do record new stuff.

The set for AIC flew by way too fast!

If/when they headline again... I am definitely getting better seats, and am gonna do as much tailgating as possible before the show, and maybe even set up an aliceinchains.com sign or something to get attention of any boardies., or even anyone that doesn't know the site exists...

All I can say (well actually it's hard to say anything at all right now) is WWWOOOOOOOOO!!!

I managed to take some pics from a borrowed camera since they wouldn't let mine in (said it looked like a professilonal camera. As if!). Unfortunately... the camera sucked and I didn't get any really good shots. I'll post the ones that look half decent if I can get 'em cleaned up a bit...

And I didn't notice Jerry being pissed other than the aforementioned wah incident...

Re: Ridgefield (Portland), WA (Clark Cnty Amphthtr] 9.09.07

Okay well i've now seen AIC 7 times in the last year. Yesterday and today being the most recent days. Every single time, minus today, Jerry talked into the mic at least a few times per show. Even saturday he talked at least 5x or more. Today we kind of got stiffed. William did all the talking. Jerry had one line and it was "i hear the pots real good hear eh?". And that was it. I'm not really sure if he was mad or whatnot but he didnt seem like himself. He even flubbed a note on the Nutshell solo and he had major peddle problems during Rooster. After the show ended, when Jerrry, Sean, and Mike usually throw stuff to the crowd, Jerry just walked off stage and didnt give anything out or say thanks for coming. He just stormed off. Even saturday night he gave a farewell talk. I was kind of disappointed to see the same setliset at Saturday, but other than that it was a killer one. Only song I missed was Love Hate Love, but oh well. The majority of the people were wearing and buying AIC shirts. I had this group of 15/16 year old chicks behind me. They yelled so damn loud and sang a long to every single song. I love seeing the way younger crowd enjoying AIC. It's great. Nutshell gave me goosebumps for the second night in a row but I held my own. Unlike saturday whe I got watery eyed hearing it. Scott Weiland thanked AIC for touring with them, and for how great it was for them to be back, and for those "beautiful" songs to be played again. Mike capped off AIC'S performance with a "GO BUY A SHIRT YA FUCKERS", then walked off stage. A very great night....I didnt stay for VR saturday night, and tonight I planned on it, but after hearing about 5 songs I just had to leave, The music was so bland and just sounded like noise. It was nothing special. Scott, Duff, and Slash were fucking awesome, but there band is nothing more than a label's puppet. It's crap. Seeing Slash rocking out in person was fucking awesome.

Re: Ridgefield (Portland), WA (Clark Cnty Amphthtr] 9.09.07

I went for AIC mainly.. but VR did pretty good... Their set started out a little iffy... but as they got further along into it... they really cranked up the energy.

And that whole part with Scott saying it was nice to hear the AIC songs being played again... That got a huge applause from the crowd..

And I wish I could have seen them as many times as you did Andrew408, you are one lucky dog, and I am envious of you...

    Until the next show then...

Great pics, rstone!  Looks like you were close to dead center - the sound must have been incredible.  You look to be just about perfectly in the sweet spot for sound.  Yes

Awesome - so glad you had fun!!

Re: Ridgefield (Portland), WA (Clark Cnty Amphthtr] 9.09.07

Surprisingly the sound was awesome everywhere. I had reserved seats but I checked out the lawn area for a little bit and I almost think it sounded better. It was at least clearer up there. The view lacked a little but the sound made up for it. These last 2 shows are the only times ive ended up on Mike's side. Every other time it's been Jerrys or dead center. A nice change to say the least. Mike's great.

I remember in some other thread they were talking about Mike singing along. I remember seeing him sing into the mic during only one song and that was on Grind. The other times it was without the mic.

On a side not. During saturdays show I thought William did great except on Rooster. Tonight he more than made up for it with a spine-tingling rendition. I swear he sounded exactly like the recording. Hah it was awesome.

Some guy said to me while in line for t's "man i was really nervous about seeing them tonight. i was like biting my nails hoping they'd be good. i had never heard of the new guy, but wow he nailed it man. he was great!". Then I pointed out i've seen em 7 times now in the last year. and he said "Aw man so i'm here nervous as fuck and you already knew they were gonna kick ass". i just laughed. hah.

Rstone, I got that shirt at Saturdays show. Sunday I was going to get the hoodie but they didnt have medium! I was kinda ticked about that. I ended up getting the skulls shirt instead though.

Alice should start selling there greatest hits cd at the show. While i was in line for about 10 minutes, I heard 4 people saying "ill take an alice cd" only to be shutdown by the lady, "we only have velvet revolver cd's. AIC only has those 3 shirts and the sweatshirt".

Re: Ridgefield (Portland), WA (Clark Cnty Amphthtr] 9.09.07

I was up front center at the rail and it was insane! William was great. The band was tight. First time being able to see them so I can't compare to a Layne show except to say I liked what I heard. VR really kicked ass too! I like GnR & STP so hearing those songs made it better for me. I thought I was only there to see AIC but I give VR their due. Scott was all over the stage like a whirling dervish, singing his guts out. Slash was phenomenal, awesome soloing, great stage presence. All in all, solid, rocking sets from both bands. I have some pics if I can figure out how to post them here I will.

I can't stay up and write everything I have to say, but wanted to post something to let everyone know how great this show was! I was there to see AiC (never been a VR fan) and drove from Spokane to do it (couldn't make the Gorge). It was so worth it.

This was the first time I've seen them, and the first concert I've been to with my son. I just wish it would've lasted longer!!!
