the chains jammed!  had my doubts, walking in.  Duvall did the band justice.  cool show.  actually i think alice in chains should headline and velvet revolver should open.

    Abridged Version -

Absolutely amazing show!! Wished we could have heard more.

    Unabriged Version -

Its rare that a band transitions from the studio to the tour scene and still sounds amazing. Top that off with a new lead singer (I've always been a huge Layne fan). To say the least I was skeptical of the sound and of your new singer. I've been a fan since the early 90's and was geeked to hear you touring again. To put it simply the show was amazing, I would put you up there with Rush in that in concert you sound excellent. Also, William DuVall sounded great, he is distictly different than Layne but his vocals are a great addititon to the bands sound. Hopefully we will see you again soon (maybe after a new album....). Out.

Gonna go off memory and it will not be in exact order...I'll give it a shot-

    We Die Young

    Again

    Grind

    Damn that River

Rain When I Die (hightlight for me as always)

    No excuses

    Them Bones

    Down in a Hole

    Man in the Box

    Angry Chair

    Would

    Rooster

I might be missing one and that is roughly the order...they played a full hour. Energy level was at 11 the whole time. I saw them in Tempe and Tuscon last year and I feel so blessed to have seen these shows!!!

I felt bad for VR. They can't follow Alice. Don't see how they will put up with the embarrasement the entire tour... I was on the stage when they performed and when Scott walked back past me after the show, he looked pissed. Just my opinion.

Hope everyone has a blast at the future dates!! Maybe I'll see you there:)

Great show last night!  I was not lucky enough to be on stage like Kim, but I had 4th row seats (actually 2nd row since I was on Jerry's side, and rows 1 and 2 are only at center stage).  Amazing!  Jerry pelted me with picks at the end & I managed to grab one Smile

The sound was great and the band was super tight.  I was very impressed how well Duvall meshes with the band - and the songs.  Sean's kit is very cool, and it was funny to watch him take smoke breaks back there while the rest of the band played on guitar only sections like No Excuses.  The audience was definitely more fired up for AIC than VR.

I have some pretty good pics, I will upload them once I figure out how to get them off my phone. Huh?

The opening band, Sparta, had a couple good rocks but skewed a bit too much toward a Cure/Cult blend to fit my metal tastes.

VR was definitely good, I stayed through the whole show & I thought they rocked hard. The sound guys did a horrible job mixing the vocals, though, it was tough to even hear Weiland on most songs.  He is a very active performer, which made up for a lot.  I dunno how he manages to smoke *while singing*!  Slash of course was stellar, I could have watched an hour of him playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and it would have been worth it.

I was a bit disappointed that there was no crossover song with both bands, or maybe a guest appearance by one of the other band members.  Jerry & Slash wailing together would be amazing!

This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to! The energy level was so high. We were very fortunate to have front row seats. This was the first time I have ever been on the rail without being pushed & crowded. It made the show so much more enjoyable.

I met a nice couple next to us that really were into the show too. We had a blast! The best part of the evening for me was being pelted with picks from Mike Inez. He was so sweet trying to get a pick to me. I couldn't catch one. So he came out with a handful & threw them in our direction. I got two & everyone else in our area caught them too. Thank you Mike for being so kind & cute. It really made my evening so much more fun.

We didn't stay for Velvet Revolver. They aren't a favorite of mine. A couple of my friends that were sitting on the lawn. They got our seats after Alice played. They said AIC blew Velvet Revolver away. Alice should have been the main act.

It was such a great evening can't wait for them to them to come back to Phoenix.

Hey Nature! Nice to hear from you. I owe you a catch up email. Things have been so good. Mr. Crazy made a full recovery & is doing better than ever. He was so lucky & me too.

William did an awesome job last night. He looked like a real rock star. He looked at me a few times like he was trying to remember me. It was very memorable for me meeting him a few years back. He is a true gentlemen...a class act.

I tried to win another radio contest to get backstage. I was the first caller & I got one of the questions wrong. I can't win a radio contest! I should give up trying. Talk about feeling like an ass. Everyone in my office was listening.

The great seats & getting picks from Mike made up for it. It was a fun evening & Jerry looked hot as hell!

Thanks for the set list Kim! I will be at the Vegas show tomorrow night and I just cant wait.

For those of you that stayed and watched VR, did they bust out any GNR or STP tunes at all or was it all VR stuff?

    Good article.

I love any journalist that gives William DuVall the credit that he deserves.  Althou I think he sounds nothing like Layne.
