    Houston - September 28, 2007

Awesome show!  I never have seen the Band before, and was blown away by the performance.  Here's the setlist as I recorded it.  I missed one song (had to be excused) so I hope someone will please fill it in.

    Grind
    Again
    We Die Young
    Them Bones
    Rain When I Die
    Angry Chair
    Junkhead
    Down in a Hole
    (missed it)
    Man in a Box
    Would?
    Rooster

The only negative in the show was the guest singer during "Man in a Box" seemed to not know the lyrics.  Who was that guy?

VR was pretty good too but I went to see AIC.

he is dug pinnick from king's x.  he's a bad ass (awesome pipes!) and a good friend of the band, and as he's from houston, he does tend to join them on stage when they're here.

i had to miss the show tonight, but my friends reported back to me.  i can't speak for why he would mess up the lyrics.....?

    Re: Houston - September 28, 2007

I don't know.. he joined them last time they came through, and now both times, I don't think he does a good job at all on MITB. It's like, Williams sings the line, then doug does it, and compared to williams, it's very sub par.. and he sings it his own style. He doesn't go to the high note and he doesn't hold the note for the same length as the cd. (the Jaaaaaaaayayayasus Chriiiiist part). I guess cause he just can't sing that..

anyway they played 'it ain't like that'  seems like it was earlier in the set though.. but maybe not.

    VR played

Vaseline, Interstate Love Song, and Sex Type Thing as well as Patience, Mr. Brownstone, and It's so Easy in addition to their songs, which I only know the first two that came out a while back.

I can't wait, Im leavin in a couple hours to go to Austin for, what I'm callin, AIC Unplugged 2..

That will be my best concert experience, I just know it already.

we were trying to figure out who that was...my brother thought it was the singer from sevendust. ha.  sorry you missed making it.

it was my best concert by far. alice was on man. i thought william’s vocals were tight. makes me really pumped about the thought of new songs. seems like they just played a bit of "it ain’t like that" or maybe i was just hypnotized by the whole experience. "them bones" and "junkhead" were my favs.  when they played rooster the place literally lit up. it was beautiful.

i thought velvet revolver was great too. scott’s got some moves. really cool to watch him. he used a megaphone on several songs...but to me it really didn’t sound any different than when he just sang in his mic.

Agreed - Doug Pinnick is an awesome singer. I'm originally from Houston, so I've loved KingsX for years - hate that I missed Doug and the Houston show, but I'm not complaining too much - I was lucky enough to catch both the Dallas and Austin shows. Cool

It was my first time seeing the band period. My experience of the whole thing was just an awe-some thing. When i heard the lead singer not seeing on the inside because i was getting a beer, i thought layne was somewhere in the building. Layne was sort of inhabiting Will's body as his voice at the concert. I couldn't believe my eyes. I totally rocked out that night, and shed some tears by hearing the last song Rooster. I closed my eyes that whole entire song and thought another great artist - person leaves his legacy to inspire future generations. Good Will Hunting !

Unequivocally a most amazing and significant experience...cathartic...the music hit at soul level....

     PS...

Chuck--it was very cool to run in to someone who actually gets it when someone says, "This concert was a very important, very spiritual event for me."  Cool you!
