    NIRVANA

Sorry but I love em, and not just because of Smells Like Teen Spirit. They have some great songs. Cobain was a damn musical genious.

Why do all the greats die before their times up? And now to get some conversation started....I think theirs more to his death than just suicide. Too many loose ends that don't add up. Hopefully this case will get reopened and a proper investigation will follow sometime in the next 10 years. Thoughts anyone?

    Re: NIRVANA

no posts in the nirvana thread? weird..

I honestly really do like Nirvana. My favorite album of theirs is Bleach. They really did have some great songs. But I've heard Smells Like Teen Spirit enough for two lifetimes, haha. Still a good song, though. Kurt Cobain may not have been a good guitar player or singer, but he more than made up for it with his songwriting. Great band, great band. R.I.P. Kurt.

As for the conspiracy theories..I haven't really thought too much about it. I don't think there's some big conspiracy about it (nor do I think that Courtney killed him...I'm so sick of hearing that). What I do know is that a brilliant man who wrote some great songs was gone way too soon.

In Utero gives me chills. I still have a great passion for Nirvana, and always will.

    Re: NIRVANA

Exactly. I'm not forcing anyone to believe that Courtney killed him. I don't even believe that myself. Although I don't rule out the possibility. All i'm saying is that their wasnt a proper investigation and theirs too many suspicious things that wernt checked. Reopening the case and examining everything, even if it leads to the same verdic, suicide, would set me at ease regarding this. If they do find it was murder, then it only adds to my personal belief that he probably was.

    Re: NIRVANA

Nirvana has been "uncool" to like for a while because they were so overexposed and oversaturated in the media and mainstream for a while...

But they still rock. Noise rock combined with candy-coated guitar riffs - lovely stuff.

There is some weird about Kurt's death. My friends and I were talking about Nirvana today. My favorite song of theirs is "Sliver". I love the Bleach cd.

    Re: NIRVANA

There's definitely more to it than JUST suicide. I believe in a tri-part theory about his death- 01 Drugs - He was drowning in misery to his addictions and so far separated from any control of his life. Pointing no fingers, trust me - addiction sucks. 02 Fame - I'm sure everyone enjoys a boost of self-esteem with having their music at the top of the charts, selling out multitudes of shows, and having a bottomless checkbook. But, I think he still held on to his dignity and basis of self-worth about being a sellout.  That he was definitely not. I still can't get the story out of my head about Courtney buying a Lexus, and Kurt demanding she return it for their old car ... a Volvo, I believe.  03 Courtney - I honestly believe he was on the verge of getting a divorce. "Like battery acid and water," like Courtney once was quoted as saying about her and Kurt.  With his tumultous familial  background, the thought of causing the same pain he once felt as a child for Frances b/c her parents were splitting up was just too much for this fragile soul.  He just couldn't handle it all any longer.  So, whatever. That's my opinion. Irregardless, and it guts me every time I say it, he's gone. Luckily I still can and do enjoy Nirvana's music.

Love Nirvana, although I do have to admit it's somewhat overrated. It was definitly not the best band of the time.
