"...Alice in Chains was the greatest escape I had."
When I was younger, I went through a lot of hardship. Sometimes I just didn't want to be where I was....or, I just didn't want to be. I didn't really have any friends, my mom worked at the prison and was never home, and other than that I was alone.
I first heard "Man In The Box" on the radio when I was 12. For some reason, the lyrics just spoke to me, and the music was the greatest thing I ever heard. From that day on, I just couldn't get enough. I became a happier person, and better altogether. Anytime something bad was going on, I would just put on my headphones and close myself off to the rest of the world. The music of Alice in Chains was the greatest escape I had. I guess you could say the music became my best friend.
I am now 20 and I finally was able to see Alice in Chains live in Edinburg Texas October 5th 2006! It was a very emotional experience and quite frankly the best night ever!
I was interviewed by an editor for a local newspaper, and I told the editor my story, and she published it. I felt so privileged to be able to tell someone about how much AiC means to me. I will keep that newspaper page for ever.
I'm sooo glad AiC toured and I finally was able to see them, I had always felt a void in my life previously because I hadn't. Man, I waited for 4 hrs before the concert, but it was worth it to be in front of Jerry the whole time!!! I cried when they played "Nutshell" and William DuVall was incredible! I was really pissed off that some people were being total jerks. It took a lot for him to do this tour, and I'm glad he did.
It would be great to see the guys again!
Much Love
Jessica
